I remember on my first playthrough of ME3, on the Prologue where you have Anderson as a Squadmate, I opened up my menu to check my powers, and I saw Anderson as a Squadmate on there, complete with a full list of Powers.

Now, Temp Squadmates in ME2 (Wilson and the Lady from Arrival) did not have an Actual list of Skills, So I assumed i would get Anderson as a Full Squadmate at some point, but I did not..

So, did they at somepoint in development, plan to have Anderson as a full squadmate? I find it odd they would spend the time giving him a skill tree, not to mention spend the time to give a unique "class Skill" (Alliance Admiral), if he was only going to be useable for 5-15 minutes

The way the story is set up it's entirely possible that the end game could have been Shepard and Anderson again...
I know they scrapped a boss fight...

Didn't the original script have Anderson helping Shepard to the beam, and then fighting the remainder of Cerberus on the citadel?

Yeah, I can't help but wonder if we were supposed to get Anderson again as a temp squadmate, as well as maybe Wrex, Mordin, and various ME2 squad members during the vanilla game.

I seem to remember reading when ME3 was in development that they were exploring the idea of a rotating squad, where some members would be around for certain parts of the game, then have to go off and be replaced by other squad members. If I'm not remembering that incorrectly, I can't help but wonder if that idea was abandoned due to time constraints.

I've been wondering about this since day 1; in Andersons powers you can increase Sniper damage, yet he never uses a sniper :/

I think they just used other characters' skills as a place-holder. If you look at Brooks on the squad screen during the one mission in the game where you can use her, you'll see her powers are identical to James'.

however, did they spend the time to give Brooks an unique class skill? because Anderson was given one.

Isn't it just a renamed version of Ashley's?

Wouldn't surprise me if they did it.

He wasn't going to be a permanent character, so why not just copy his attributes from Ashley? It's not like people would care.

Now, Temp Squadmates in ME2

I'd look at relevant examples from the same game (Omega DLC maybe?)

Having said that, all the allusions to stuff happening in London which never go anywhere do suggest that something more was originally planned, which may or may not have involved Anderson.

Maybe they decided to put more effort into their temp squadmates than they had in previous games.

yes, but Omega is a fairly long mission, compared to the Prologue which is 5-15 minutes.

Just like how in ME2 they did not give Wilson or Arrival person a Skill tree as you had them for such short time, but they did give one to Liara since you have her for a fairly long mission

That was the original plan, yeah. Also why Miranda and Jack have inventory slots, I think. Or so I've heard.

Just one more of the things Mass Effect couldn't have because of EA schedules. "It's in the Game... Unless Our Bean Count Says No!"

Jenkins had a full skill list. Just think about that for a moment. He didn't even get the chance to do anything and he was given a full skill list. It was exactly Ashley's skill list, just like Anderson has here. Jenkins...

Miranda really should have been on the squad full time or something. Her particular skill set was sorely missing, as my canon Shep is a straightforward soldier with no biotic or tech skills.

In previous games, I almost always had a Sentinal with me to help bolster some of Shepard's weak spots. Since Ashley lives through Virmire for me, I never really pick up a great combo for that in ME3.
