Is it possible to do the quest part of Citadel DLC without having the party right after the fight on the Normandy?

Great. How? I can't seem to exit the Sun Strip and go back to the Normandy.

You have to do the main mission first, when that's all said and done then you can go back to the Normandy.

Or did I misread: There should be a taxi cab somewhere down there.

Yes, do not buy party supplies.
Go to cab, presto.

HINT: You can do the party AFTER the ending of the game.
(yes, I said after)

To exit the Sun Strip use the terminal that is right next to where you "wait" for Steve. From there you can go back to the Normandy and continue, then do the party part whenever you want.

Found it!

Thanks a bunch. Was worried I'd have to have this party

You can buy the party supplies and then still leave and come back later.

I'd heard buying the party supplies prevents you from doing the non-party squad invites (the ones where a squadmate will just come visit) to your apartment until after the party.

That's proven to be true in my experience. Glyph assumes the role of party planner and will only allow you to invite guests.

Why wouldn't you want to?...that's the main point of the DLC.

Well, I personally wouldn't want to have it after the main quest. The only time that makes sense to really do, to me, is between Rannoch and Thessia, but doing the party before Thessia strikes me as clashing too badly with the tone of Thessia; the latter is too harsh a comedown. I'd prefer to have the party immediately before Cronos Station, as it can serve as a final spirit-lifter before moving in for the final battle.

This is wrong. I've played this sequence three times and always bought the party supplies before doing anything else, and always got the non-party invites. You can also do those after the party.

Only one time I didn't get all of them. Odd, that.

Indeed, I've never come across that either TBH. Perhaps it's just best then to err on the side of caution and hold off buying the supplies afterall.

No you can't. There is no gameplay after the ending of the game.

Technically correct, and technically incorrect at the same time.

No. You either started a new game or you resumed a savegame prior to the ending. Stop lying.

And you stop pretending not to understand he/she meant the automatically created pre-chronos savegame.

Destroy EC, crew's search for Shepard & ta-daa, you got your console MEHEM.

OT to other posters: I didn't do the party as well in my canon game. Just tried it out of curiosity of course, as a meta-goodbye to the devs. I'm not saying this applies in general, but it would be horribly out of character for my self-loathing, film-noir-Shepard.
