I'll expand on this a bit:

1. Join the channel
2. Introduce yourself! Saying you're new and looking for games goes a long way.
3. Announce that you're looking for a game, or you have free slots.
4. Wait for people to respond. They will eventually, but sometimes they're working, or already playing.
5. ???
6. profit!

Ah, I know I'm stupid like that, but I never noticed it said "PC Players" in the thread topic. Shouldn't it just be "Players"? Or did you change that recently? Wouldn't want to scare off the console peasants, right?

it was changed recently, we do still have lists for the consoles, but we only get pc people in the chatroom, which is what we're recruiting for ;p

Every game I've played with you guys has been a real eye opener!

I've learned that my manifest is not quite good enough for me to be able to keep up on gold yet. Gone back to silver to unlock some more mods and weapon levels

I just don't like feeling that I'm being carried...

Outside the usual BSN BS I would say that most regular Gold players are only concerned with you saying vertical most of the time.  If I have a lower leveled player in the lobby I don't care if he only gets half my score as long as he tries his best.  If you're playing Gold with good players take note of how they play and learn that's all most of us want.  You can only learn Gold in Gold.  Loadout helps but knowing how to play is more important.  

A couple of nights ago trying my hardest spamming Incend grenades with my Krosol I only just topped the board over a friend who had a Tursol with a Tempest (but she is awesome!)

This - and what shen said. Stick with gold if you can get through it, even if you get outscored. If you're playing with other Legion peeps, they understand and know you're trying your best with what you have. You'll get more credits and therefore more gear/upgrades by playing gold anyway. That's not to say you shouldn't go to silver to play with and practice on weapon use, builds etc.

I would think even console players are encouraged to join the chat room, since most people in this day and age have a computer - ??

we've had a few but they never stuck around long enough to form a community ;<

whereas some of our pc guys have been in the chatroom since the beginning

Joined a couple of days ago.
Have a pleasure of enjoying the games. 

Sure, you have to actively look for something to kill, but it leaves a time
to admire a nice headshot or trajectory's of flying mooks. Also were was
a lot of explosions, a moment of enemy's hesitating of entering a room
with 4 psychotic biotic's, geth genocide, no regret of using gear,
smooth objective waves and no rockets to boost a score on the 11
wave. 

There is a lot to learn and it is fun .

P.S. First post of the dedicated non-English lurker - they are that good .

Thanks for the kind words guys. I have no problem with the game mechanics, and "remaining verticle" is not really my issue, it's making a valid contribution beyond "Decoy with reasonable AI" that I have trouble with

Still, I had a good session over the long weekend we just had in the UK, managed to get lucky with some key unlocks mod and gear wise, as well as now having 5 medi gel! (woo!). So I'm thinking it's time to put my try hard pants back on!

So I will be attempting another foray into gold over the next few days. The Legion will be my first port of call

If you score 20Kish in a Gold match you are a Decoy if you score 40-50K you're doing your job.  I struggle keeping up with many Legion players so don't worry about it, I would classify myself as a good overall player but I'm not at the level of some of the people I play with.

If you want to add me be my guest.  I'm in the UK so lag / playing times should be compatible.
