No one cares if these cheaters get banned, the service Air Quotes provides is to stop cheaters from getting what they thrive on, which is your unwarranted love and admiration. He should get a medal.

The only thing wrong with the "ambiance" around here is people who whine about having the wool pulled from their eyes, which only encourages cheaters. If everyone took the same hardline approach to cheating as Air Quotes, we would have a bunch of legit runs and cool threads like the plat solo hall of fame wouldn't get locked.

A hefty dose of the blame goes to BioWare for making it so easy, but let's all not forget that the cheaters are the real culprits.

So have you watched the video and seen anything out of the ordinary?

Its obvious from the way he Smashes out in the open and doesn't die.

Anyone who has played a Smash-capable character on Plat knows that is a death sentence with normal FPS.

For those "cool, I try this next time" guys - please first check your FPS is below 30, or you get slaughtered. Running like the OP in the beginning towards group of Phantoms and Dragoons - yeah, really.

As AQ et alter correctly summarized, the OP is not cheating, but his FPS make his Platinum much easier then regular 60 FPS Platinum, so while the achievement is still good, it's not exactly what it looks.

Good gameplay, but the vid does have a lot of low FPS telltales.  It's so damn hard to compare one PC players experience to the next.

There are ways for a player with a fast computer to artificially limit their FPS with programs like FRAPS.  Did you do this?  It doesn't sound like it from what you said.

But regardless, the blame should really be placed on Bioware for failing to understand the mechanics of their own game.

I think it is if you use an HD-PVR which supposedly does all the major heavy lifting internally. I have one but I think it might have stopped working recently but when it worked it was awesome (well I used it for recording my consoles tho)

Air Quotes didn't correctly summarize that the OP's got an easier game due to low FPS, he directly accused the OP of cheating because he could one shot dragoons with smash, however there's nothing like that in the video - and AQ still hasn't admitted that.

Yes, assuming you mean strictly software solutions.

There are 3 options that I know of, though I've only used 2 of them.

FRAPS - Have to pay for it, only records uncompressed video.  Results in 50+ gigabyte size files that need to be encoded via Handbrake or similar which can be a long process.  When it works well, to me the game feels smoother while recording + playing; but frequently my fps would tank to 30 and never bounce back; I always quit recording at that point because, ugh...30fps?!  I started out this way but have since moved on to...

Open Broadcaster Software - Free, encodes on-the-fly, results in 6+ GB files.  I still run FRAPS while playing to measure fps and with OBS it stays at 60, but everything feels just the tiniest bit off, less smooth somehow.  I can definitely "feel" the difference between 60fps-while-recording and 60-fps-while-not-recording.  I haven't figured it out yet.

Dxtory - I've never used it, but many others do.
