Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 1
Halo CE- although my favorite is 4
Half Life 2
Dead Space 2.

Edit: I see a lot of people are including Deus Ex and Bioshock. IDK??? I think true scifi has to have aliens and have a strong outter space vibe, but I guess if those are included then the list would be.

Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 1
Halo CE
Deus Ex
Half life 2
Bioshock infinite
Dead Space 2.

I had always thought of sci-fi, as anything that has to do with fictional science.

yeah, I do too, cause I think Neuro Mancer and Blade Runner are some of the greatest works in Scifi history. So, yeah I do to. But I think in gaming aliens and outter space are tied to scifi. But I corrected my list.

I see people mentioning Half-Life and KOTOR. I suggest you guys re-read the title as it says this gen. :P

Half-Life 2 came out in late 2004, that counts right?

Not to mention the fact that it came out on PS3 and 360.

First console it was on was the first Xbox and since it was on the PC a year before the 360 launched .. more like last gen.

Episodes one and two are, but not the original which is almost 9 years old. This "gen" has gotten old enough ..

yeah, I can't wait for new consoles. Even as playing more and more as a PC only gamer. I think new consoles is what devs and the industry need. Badly.

I'm not that into sci-fi, so I have only played the Mass Effect series and Deus Ex: Human Revolutions. Of those, Deus Ex definitely is the best. Interesting world and I like how it presents a philosophical question that makes you think.

How do worms survive all that time in the can, anyway?

Cannibalism... they just don't finish the job when we open.

Fallout: New Vegas. Any other answer is incorrect (well apart from Bioshock (Infinite), Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mass Effect).

You know it's surprisingly hard to find real information about canned worm bait on google. No I don't care about the idiom, damn you google.

Surprisingly, I really like a lot of Sci-Fi games even though I wouldn't say that's my favorite genre, and I don't want to choose from all of them, so I'll give credit to each for being "the best" in their own way:
Penumbra: Black Plague - Most intense story. It makes you want to know what happens next and it's always good for another surprise. Also thought-provoking.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Most innovative. The best dialogue system in a video game yet, truly making dialogue a challenge while also giving the system some clever spins.
Bioshock 2 - Best combination of gameplay and story. Gameplay mechanices and story elements blend into each other perfectly.
Fallout New Vegas - Most enjoyable game, most interesting setting.
Portal 2 - Most creative.
Mass Effect 2 - Best characters. Not necessarily the best-written characters, but because there are so many of them, with each getting their time in the spotlight. You learn about their strengths and flaws, and you get to help them resolve their conflicts.

Hard to say.

Mass Effect series was very sweet, so was Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine. Hell would XCOM: Enemy Unknown count as sci fi? Then you got a brilliant indie game called FTL and Fallout New Vegas.

I think I'll go with the Mass Effect series.

Half Life. Period. Followed by Deus Ex and Bioshock. All 3 of them are great.

But once Cyberpunk 2077 is released, it's not only going to be the best sci-fi game of this generation, it's going to be the best RPG of this generation. Mark my words. Cyberpunk 2077 is going to kick ass.

Why the hell are people saying Half Life when the title says "This gen"?

Implicitly referring to Half-Life 2 which is early in the gen but was still released on the 360 and PS3.

Surprised you picked 2 instead of 1. The latter is usually more popular. (Not-being-a-dick-acutally-intrgued) xD

Those are seriously quite a stetch. But that account Turning Point: Fall of Liberty and ****s at the Center of the Earth are sci-fi, along with Black Knight (Martin Lawrence)

^ If Inception and Omega Man are sci fi, then Assassins Creed and The Walking Dead are too. Scifi is an very broad genre. More so than it is given credit.

Turning point and Black Knight are fantasy, not sci fic. Read more often.

I had the most fun with the Gears of War series, actually. But I won`t argue if someone else thinks something else is better.

I played Lego Star Wars a ton. That must count for something.
