See subject line.

I want the 3 dream sequences gone in a bad way!  They totally break up the pacing of the game while I lumber around at half speed chasing after some kid I could care less about.  Scratch that.  Some kid I am glad is dead, cause now I don't have to deal with kids in my Mass Effect game!

Pretty sure there isn't, wish there was because I hated that kid and now that I got him out of the ending (MEHEM) I don't really give a **** about him or his relation to anything.

I wish there was as well since I play MEHEM, but I can sort of see why Shep would have nightmares from what he saw leaving Earth. I just wish my Shep ran faster to catch up to him.

It does not fit my Shepard who was a colonist and saw far worst when she was 15 then seeing some random kid die.

True good point.  I guess it is kind of a downer to see that dream sequence right after romancing Ash in the cabin.

Agreed my shep was a colonist and went on to fight at torfan. A idiot kid should not shock him

Indeed.  NOT what I would be dreaming about.  At the very least I'd be happy to cut the dream sequence after Ash.  Does. Not. Fit.

My Shep: war hero, sole survivor.  He hops over dead kids during his morning run.

if they wanted to do a proper nightmare they should have shown shep's LI burning, not some snotty little kid.

This would be one mod I'd definitely install. I mean Shepard saw people screaming, melting into grey goo right in front of him, some kid or whatever he represents isn't going to phaze him as much as something like that.

What about the Shepard's that have no LI who'd take their place?

I guess the usual. iirc, there are priorities, LI > then "the friend"(most used/talked to?) > oh, and then the canon-.- liara
I could even imagine Anderson.. hell, anyone, but the random kid.

I don't remember what thread it was in, but someone had the idea to completely replace the dream sequences with the mission failed video at the end of ME2 Arrival. () or even the original beacon video from ME1. Don't recall if anyone looked into if it was feasible.

I'd personnaly perfer that over the current grey dreamworld. The disjointed images seem much more nightmarish to me.

I personally think the nightmare scenes were the most memorable, intense and heart wrenching moments of the whole trilogy. No, I'm not talking about the stupid brat, he was never the main point in those nightmares. The main point was the silent echoes of your lost squadmates, the utter feeling of loneliness, despair and the sense of great impending doom claiming each and every living soul of the galaxy. These souls are oil-like figures, who travel into this dark forest, a place between reality and "afterlife", growing in numbers with every day. You feel the overwhelming weight of your responsability. You hear a haunting music in the background, playing in slow motion as every muscle of your body is drained from fatigue but you still have to go on.

Plus, they recorded a whopping 10 minutes of squadmate dialogue. What's even more disheartening is to realise that you have heard each one of those lines before, but now the voice actors have recorded them again, this time with a chilling coldness, making them like whispers.

Just watch it through, if you dare. I remember the first time I entered these dreams I just moved only little at times and really got myself immersed: I was that Shepard, a simple human soldier caught under impossible odds. This kind of immersion is very rare in games.

I also second using ME2 Arrival's bad end or the Beacon Vision, even a combination of the two.

Honestly I just wish there was an option that allowed you to skip the Dream Sequences, they were a highly annoying part of the game IMO.

I think I would prefer a mod that upgraded them to becoming scenes we watch rather than scenes we play through. The slow running (and yes the kid) made the nightmares frustratingly slow and pointless, but with the right camera placement and animation directions, it could be possible to turn these nightmares into something more acceptible to the player and something that does not take so long to get through.

Wish we could replace the kid with the Virmire Sacrifice. Feel like that would have made a lot of sense.

That or Saren. Anyone else feel like IndocSaren would troll you from beyond the grave?

Edit:  That said, I'm sure it's completely possible to remove them entirely.  Now, I wouldn't as I agree with Lykurgos88 but that's beside the point.  Considering what Mr.Fob has done with MEHEM, which directly changes the sequences of events and actually replaces some of them, it's just a matter of replicating those techniques to replace it with something else, or remove it.

The beacon vision/Arrival Failure is a REALLY cool idea, though.  I'd love to find a balance between that and the dreams.

That would be the perfect solution using existing resources.

And I think this should be doable, given that MEHEM is doable.

Actually, I'd love to see a mod that keeps the dreams but changes them. They should each have the kid replaced with a member of the crew burning up...and the last one just before Cronos should contain Shepard's LI (if that is even possible). If no LI then just another crew member...or Anderson.

That final one, seeing yourself hug the kid and both burn would obviously have to be replaced by the standard run and reach towards the kid (but with the kid replaced by LI/Anderson).

If you just replaced the kid with a squad mate but the kept the animations, it would probably look funny.

Agreed. Have the model also change between running behind trees.

I'm also in favor of having the Star Child (if we MUST have one) to be obviously manipulating Shepard. Remove the child voice so it's just Male/Female Shepard speaking and have them change models of previous characters who've been indoctrinated/died ala Leviathan. LIke when he talks about synthesis, change into Saren for some dialog. Would be a nice touch to have the voice over for "Is submission not preferable to extinction?". Nice chilling effect.

Not really. All the models are capable of the same animations because they share the same bone structure. And the kid has pretty simply textures - croutching, running...
