There is a thread for all things witcher.
As for your problem, well, I haven't played the witcher in a while, but I can't recall Shani acting like this, and like you, I avoided anything flirtatious with her. I actually can't recall seeing her after she got mad that I gave the kid to Triss.
So, maybe it's a bug?

Don't be. Romance in the Witcher one was handled very poorly. Other than that, the game is fantastic. It's too bad you couldn't/didn't play it straight ahead, some things might have been clearer. I'd recommend a second playthrough since the game's story doesn't really make a lot of sense the first time round, but becomes a lot more solid in retrospect.
