Too many to list. The biggest so far was probably Temple of Elemental Evil. I had high hopes after following its development for quite some time only to end up with an unfinished, hacked to pieces, bug ridden mess. Its only saving grace was an impressive translation of 3.5e D&D rules to a video game.

After all the outstanding Infinity Engine titles and Neverwinter Nights, I didn't expect such a bad D&D game.

Honorable mention goes to Beyond the Beyond.

Ouch!  I never heard about TOEE when I picked it up.  I can only imagine following TOEE and ending up with that crap.

1) I was very disappointed when my Super Mutant Companion would not endure the radiation for me at the end of Fallout 3.

2) Another WAVE! Another WAVE! Another WAVE! in Dragon Age II.

3) But, like others, Mass Effect 3's ending tops the list.

Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures - my dream mmo turned nightmare
DA2 - 25+ hours of disappointment and irritation per playthrough. I'll give Inquisition a chance but if I lose my DA2 saves, too bad.

Mass Effect 2. I didn't spend any time following it as I wanted to remain unspoiled...an hour into the game I realized that it had become a mediocre shooter and there really wasn't going to be any real RPG elements.

Runner up: Mass Effect 3. I bought it based on the assurances from the Developers that multiplayer wasn't required, that's the last time I'll believe a Bioware employee. Then, I reached the end, and discovered that "Your decisions through out all three games will matter" meant Red/Green/Blue.

Runner Up: Master's of Orion 3. Wasn't even remotely close to the first two games.

I'm going to say Spore. The game had a clever premise that had been attempted somewhat in the SNES days. While it started out grand, the gameplay felt bare-bones and left much to be desired. I'd read metacritical scores that seemed to support it, but by the space age section I just ragequitted out of there. To this day, still haven't touched it.

And the runner up is... Anachronox. While Mass Effect stopped taking itself as seriously around 2 & 3 , Anachronox is like a far more ludicrous version of that. It's trying too hard to tell a meaningful story right next to the 4 aliens named after the beatles and the pope giving away a T-shirt. I like comedic games now and then(Earthbound & Brutal Legend), but it was a let down nonetheless.

Mass Effect 3.. specifically the ending.. TES IV: Oblivion was really weak too. Pretty much every Call of Duty since Call of Duty 4 has been really bad. I really don't like Civ V that much either. Oh yeah Battlefield 3 was really disappointing... compared to Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 2.

Dragon Age 2 I wasn't really disappointed in the game. I was more upset with myself for preordering it when I told myself one hundred times it is gonna be bad.

BioShock 2, Far Cry 3, Alan Wake, Darkness 2, Max Payne 3, GTA IV, Borderlands 2, Fable 3, Witcher. Avoided ME3 and DA2, but suppose they also qualify as terrible. Can't think of more at the moment.

That's the ME3 ending, nothing even comes close to that.
But that's mostly because I got really invested in that series more than in any other game ever. There were plenty of other games and things in games that I didn't like but usually I just didn't care that much in the end. So yea, the ME3 ending it is.

I wouldn't quite agree.  Perhaps the majority of Marvel (or other super-hero licensed) games aren't great, perhaps, but there had been a string of, IMO, great Marvel games in a row.

Spider-Man 2, Hulk Ultimate Destruction, X-Men Legends, X-Men Legends 2, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance were all games I loved.  MUA2 wasn't a horrible game, but it fell far short of MUA.  Hence, big disappointment.

With the exception of the X-Men Legends series, I found most of those titles unsatisfactory. Although that just might be my bias towards Cyclops showing.

To each his own I guess.

Hmm, ME3, don't need to explain that.

Also AC Revelations, that game was too short, did not add anything to the series, and once I finished the main plot, there did not seem to be anything else to do.

Sonic 06. Single-handedly killed my interest in the series for several years. Didn't buy another Sonic game until Generations (which is awesome).

DA2, most likely.

I am yet to buy a game that I expected to be great and ended up absolutely awful, but there are ones that were still pretty damn disappointing.

Hunters: the devil's forge.

The golden axe game for xbox (at least someone at Game made a mistake, bought a month ago for 4$, sold it in the same shop for 5$)

My biggest disapointment is actually for a really good game. Lego Universe, a lego mmo that got many things right. Hell the premise was great, a metaphore for what was happening in modern times. There is this energy that is destroying imagination, so we need you and your creativity to step up and help save it. From the minigames to what you could do, the quests, the worlds...it was flat out fun and light hearted. So what was bad about it? The marketing was poor, it simply didn't announce itself well and wasn't that known, little people got into it and eventually they had to shut it down.

For that is even a bigger disappointment that having no SW Battefront 3 or that disney shut down Lucasarts. But at least lego is doing good, City Undercover is simply great.

ME3 for its ending.

Why?
- Multiplayer required endings
- Same cutscenes in different colors
- A serious lack of feeling like I achieved something after god-only-knows how many hours I sunk into that series.

Mass Effect 3, with Mass Effect 2 a distant second place.

Third place would be Warhammer Online: I had high expectations, being the new game from Mythic. We (my guild from DAoC) tried it, but it was very disappointing. Leveling through quests was plain boring, so we soon headed to PVP to be disappointed yet again. We headed back to DAoC after a month.

Fallout New Vegas. I love the game now and all the DLC's but for months after the release we couldn't play it. At all. Every 5 minutes it crashed.

Skyrim. Another game I like and enjoy now when it's patched. But for months the game would crash, lag after savefiles got to big, lag when walking near water etc..

Honorable mention: The Witcher. Friends recommended it and told me I'll love it. Here's what he told me: The combat is refreshing and fun, great story and you get to craft your own character!" I liked practically nothing about the game.

Mass Effect 3. Easily. And it's not just about the ending. Although, atrocious as it is, but also day 1 DLC, forced multiplayer (Pre EC), streamlined RPG elements, depleted dialogue wheel, 1 hub world, 0 ME2 characters (Although Citadel DLC was great and easily best content of the game- should have been included day1, but BW luvs to sell us their game piece by piece but meh...) Yeah, ME3 for me. I think it's because I love the series so much that , to this day, it bothers me how ME3 was wasted. But I won't be supporting BW products in the future so.... Yeah.

Honorable mention has to go to Resident Evil 5, again based on my love of it's amazing. AMAZING. Predecessor, RE4, I had high hopes. It was pretty, it was smooth, the shooting was great, the boss fights were good, but it was not. NOT a Resident Evil game. And shiala was a terrible AI and it was dumb.

I guess I would put DA2 in their, but to avoid hating on BioWare to much I wont' explain why. But it's bad for me too.

Well. I was like...five.

I get to the castle, and I beat Bowser, who's like this big fire-breathing dragon guy.

But it turns out the princess is in another castle, so I can't save her after all.

Soldier of Fortune: Payback was pretty disappointing. I loved the first SoF and nostalgia overcame me when I bought Payback, but it wasn't half as fun; just a poorly-designed, generic shooter with gibs.

But ME3 ending wins by a long way; after well over hundred hours with those characters and the universe, what a terrible way to end it.

World of warcraft raid finder - "lol no, you have to have the best graphics to actually be able to do this with no lag, no spare time so you can actually get loot you want, and you have to have paitence because people will kick you for no reason"

Also Fallout new Vegas, I got so attached to Fallout 3, my companions and friends in the Vault that when New vegas started I couldn't get into it much, about 1 hour in I stopped playing cause it wasn't the same
