I was expecting something more akin to what the first game had and then I found out it was nothing but some generic theme, plus I never got the insanity thing, at least it never felt like Spec Ops the line insanity since it was all because of drugs. Then you had to use Uplay even if you bought it through steam. I guess all of Ubisoft's games turn out this way, with their hollywood action stories and flashy graphics that I find annoying.

I have been playing Blizzard games for about 18 years now and that was the first game they released that I was disappointed in.

I remember when Brink came out. My friend just got paid from working at Baskin Robbins so we went to the mall and into Gamestop, it wasn't the one i usually go to but we were already there, the guy said and i quote "Are you sure you want it? It's really bad" So we didn't buy it, we went to the Gamestop i always go to and asked there, the clerk said and i quote "Don't buy Brink it's not even worth a 4 dollar rental" He ended up buying Prototype and we went and played that back at my house.IllusiveManJr wrote...
There's probably been a thread for this already in the past few years, but seeing as there has been new releases and I didn't want to hunt down then necro a thread... I made this.
Now it doesn't have to be the worst game ever, just something you were really looking forward to that didn't meet your expectations. Only exceptionally so.
Mine is most definitely Brink. I was so hyped up for this game. I overlooked the fact that the gameplay videos lacked much campaign info because I loved the aesthetics, gameplay, and background (story-wise). Then on release it was a steaming pile of Varren poo. There was no campaign and it utterly failed to blend offline and online play as it promised it would. The A.I. was atrocious and the online play was plagued by unstable servers.
Edit: Fixed spelling.
For my worst game experience it would probably be most games that were based on movies that i bought when i was little. To many to list

Runners up include Skyrim, Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, and Gran Turismo 5.

Yep requiring connection to a server for singleplayer was bad enough. Also pvp was released a while back and it's crap

That's not to say that ME3 was the worst game ever made because it is not, it's an okay game, I was just expecting alot from it. Mass Effect 3 almost completely killed all my passion for gaming. After I beat ME3 I couldn't find the will to play any games at all. I spent the vast majority of 2012 not playing any games. I seriously thought about selling al my games and my gaming consoles after the ME3 incident.
Honourable mention goes to Dragons age 2, Final Fantasy X-2, Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy XIII. There was once a time when I thought the FF series was the best thing to happen to gaming but that series really went down the toilet after FFX

Metroid: Other M
How could I forget about Metroid: Other M. In all fairness my expectations for Other M were fairly low. I learn't very early on to write off all Nintendo Wii games. I thought the bits where you point the Wii Mote at the screen sounded to gimmicky ( it was ). I thought that holding the Wii Mote sideways would be uncomfortable ( it was ) and I was very skeptical about team Ninja's involvement.
I also remembered another gaming disappointment, Too Human.

SimCity and Diablo 3. The DRM always online really ruined the experience since I live in the university, and their connection sucks big time.
I'd also have to go with Diablo 3, although not for the same reason. I absolutely loved playing Diablo 2. It's one of my top three most played games ever. But after beating D3 once on normal difficulty, that was it.... I can't even put a finger on what turned me off the game or why I loved D2 so much more.
On the flip side, Blizzard put out my favourite RTS game ever in WoL, so I can't complain.

But, ultimately, I think I have to go with Mass Effect 2. It was a good game which let me down on so many different levels. So much of what I loved was ripped out entirely rather than any attempt to make them better. The story just failed, and though the characterization was great, I didn't care much for many of the characters.
Mass Effect 3, I kind of figured it would suck. It actually STILL managed to disappoint me, but not nearly as much as the 2nd game.

-Diablo 3,
-Mass Effect 3,
-Dragon Age 2,
-Might&Magic Heroes 6,
-Aliens: Colonial Marines,
-Dungeon Lords,
-Pool of Radience,
-Starwars:The Old Republic,
-Age of Conan,
-FF XIII and 2
Most of them released after 2010...
Edit:
Oh, I forgot Fall goddamn Out 3.
Such a disgrace, at least Obsidian made New Vegas after which is way better then FO3.

Also Lost: Via Domus - I'm a big Lost fan and bought the game partly because I thought I'd get to explore the island, but the story was pretty linear and also kind of abbreviated. And the ending is a serious WTF moment even by Lost standards.

Gothic 3 got patched/remade since then atleast, so it's decent even if the campaign is still repetative.

To add fuel to the fire, Necessarily quest items that aren't identified as such(and are throwable away) don't help. Incoming Spoilers I pulled out the vault 15 keycard because my weight was getting overburdening... and as it turns out, I need to get NavComp parts from Vault 13. To gain entrance there, I have to get that info from Vault 15. And I can't get in there anymore because I can't remember where the hell I'd put it in the wasteland. I had a similar problem with arcanum twice, but was smart enough that time to have backup saves as I went through the game. Maybe it sounds like a whiny gamer asking for handholding.
In which case: I am gamer. Hear me whine.

Can't really comment much, as I didn't hate ME2, just found it disappointing. It was like wanting Baldurs Gate and getting Kingdoms of Amalur instead.Degs29 wrote...
Why is it that people who hated ME2 still got ME3? Why is it that those who think ME3 is terrible still buy the DLC? I see so many posts from people bashing the DLC, when they had previously bashed ME3, and before that ME2. Do they really hate these games or do they just like to complain?
But, there's a difference between wanting something to be good, and believing it will be. I didn't believe Mass Effect 3 would be any good, and I was proven right. I still HOPED it would be, because I loved the first game so much I wanted to believe they would actually pay the least bit of attention to it, but I was wrong on that.
It's also a matter of finishing what you start. I went into Mass Effect expecting to buy 3 games. Sometimes you have to watch the whole story, even if you know it's going to break your heart. Throw in a few genuinely good moments where you start to think maybe it wont be so bad, and it's hard to quit. I will tell you, that after the BS fest that was Kai Leng on Thessia followed by Shepard wandering around the Normandy being an ****, I damn near put the thing down.
