So, BSN, I ask you, what if me4 mp was more like an old school rpg, where you had say, abilities that affected your skills?

So like "strength" would afect melee, "constitution" would increase hp, etc.  HAve a stat that would increase biotics, maybe some minor synergies from one unrelated stat to some random skills.

Would you prefer this more or less than the me2/3 "action" based model where every base character has the same base health, damage, shields, melee dmg, etc? why?

I doubt that will be the case given the evolution of the ME series so far.

I'd prefer it that way. ME1 is still the most fun SP experience for me.

so would dice rolls affect gun damage and accuracy in combat?

Will our female characters wear skimpy "armor" into combat?

if we return to ME1 mechanics we should go back to its aesthetics as well, so I hope not

did everybody get enough of armored boobplates in ME2 and 3?

na I prefer the 3rd person shooter style with lots of powers. really love ME3's combat system. apart from the 1 omnibutton to rule them all, it's really fluid, great to look at, and a lot of fun.

I would prefer more focus given to power classes though, with more of a role for support/debuffing/buffing classes to encourage teamwork rather than everyone just picking a I-win weapon/class/setup and dominating everything.

In PnP RPGs, trying to optimise a character is a game within a game. If ME4 went that route, i wouldn't mind. It extends the game out of just the PC/console where you can think about mixing and matching stuff. Balancing would be hard as anything though, especially if you want to avoid blandness ala D&D4e

I could go for more customization in things like mods, gear, or armour, but I don't really see what purpose having strength, stamina, agility, etc. would do for the game.

That said, I want as much customization as possible. Being able to select race, class, powers within that class, armor & armor mods etc etc to create our own perfect toon is what'll hook me and everyone else.

Personally I'd like to see some sort of hybrid system, where there are no stats like strength but where you can pick and choose powers.

Say you still have base classes like vanguard, soldier, etc, and races but all those do is let you buy certain skills cheaper than others and provide your starting hp, melee damage, combat roll/dodge, and similar.

So maybe a soldier can buy "marksman" or "incendiary grenades" cheap, but if you want to buy "throw" it costs a lot more to level up than if you had chosen an adept class.

You would choose at the mp start menu action, rpg, or story. For action you played the mp, for rpg you played the mp with dice and lots of options, and for story it just referred you to the BSN.

I wouldn't mind more RPG related aspects for ME4, certainly.

Bioware seem to have the action side down pretty well, unfixed bugs aside, but I do find myself missing elements of the first game when playing the second or the third. More customization is always nice, and I do like the preferential point buy system hotpocketgimme suggested.

That's my biggest problem RPG shooter hybrids that lean more towards RPG than shooter.  If I line up my crosshairs on a mook's head and pull the trigger, I expect said head to explode, not a big "NOPE" from the RNG.

/agree.  If they were to re introduce more rpg elements, it would have to be limited to affecting things like overall damage, health, melee dmg, power dmg, weapon dmg, headshot dmg, shield/barrier damage, etc depending on how you built the character.

But at the end ofthe day it would need to still have that fps heart where the crosshairs determine where the shot goes within a very limited margin of error as it is now. imo, of course.

 OH GOD YES PLEASE

(Seriously I'd love a return to ME1 style leveling (and the overheat system, hell even powers being sparsely used IWIN buttons)

Sadly it likely won't

But no dicerolls at all, by diceroll logic if I rolled a 1 Shep should turn his/her gun around, shoot in stomach, keel over and smile

It'd be nice to see some RPG elements come back. I enjoyed having to carefully choose dialogue options as opposed to top right being generic good thing, bottom right being generic bad thing over and over again. I also really enjoyed slowly leveling up the guns/armor with better and better mods to reduce the cooldown. By the end of the game, I had an amazing shotty that I could just spam over and over without fear of it ever overheating.

Seeing ME devolve from a semi-deep console RPG to a more mainstream third person cover game sucked.

As long as we don't spend lots of time walking around and taking "elevators",
