I mean come on, even today, 1 in 5 human is Chinese, 1 in 6 is Indian, 3/5 of the world is Asian, but when it comes to intergalactic representation, nope, every human on the Normany is Caucasian, and just about every other human you'd get to meet is white.

I'm not trying to be political or trying to be politically correct ... it's just not realistic.

There were a few Asian and Indian humans in ME1. Kasumi's Asian as well.
Hell, toy around with the Character Creator and Shepard can be Asian too! As for voice, it's stated in the Codex that foreign human languages are translated into English with an American accent.

no, what i really meant is that whenever you look around in the game, every human should not all look caucasian. ME1 was fine in that, aside from the presidium, where there was emily won and that indian man who lost his wife were obviously asian, there's an attempt at realism, and it was fine really. Also, just about every human NPCs wear helmets.

But if you just look at the names of your Normandy SR1 crew members, and you can find that on the wiki, there's just two non-caucasian last names, where that could have easily been half the crew.

Read the title too eh? I don't mean there's no asians, given the demographics of the world, there ought to be a hell lot more miling around.

Erm, many, many non-Caucasians have names like that. Especially black people, but they're far from the only ones. I mean, Samantha Traynor is half-Indian, but would you guess that from her name?

The random humans in each game are likely done by a generator. It would be a lot of effort to make a model for each one. Also, the SR1 Crew didn't even have names before ME2. People of Asian descent can have caucasian last names as well.

What? I have no idea what you're talking about. There are plenty Asian people in the trilogy.

What's with the lack of fat people? That's what I want to know. I want to see a fat asari.

That's rather presumptuous considering the story takes place 170 years into the future.

So are you looking for reasons to be upset? Seems like it, there are a ton of other races in the humans you meet in all 3 games. You saying they are all white is you not paying attention or assuming that the NPC's like the black guards in the CiC in ME1 are really just white people with really deep tans.

not really, in fact i'd argue the fact advances my point even more. seeing how birthrate in developed countries is far lower than the developing countries.

not upset, just pointing out the lack of realism.

Hmmm. Good question. I think the reason why there aren't so many Asians is because Bioware was making a FREAKING COMPUTER GAME and not a Politically Correct Primer on Social Grouping strata in a pan-galactic society.

Or, do you think that every single NPC is painstakingly handcrafted to be unique, and the White Aryan Masterrace in Der Furher's Canadian bunker made sure to keep the races pure? Because, and I could be wrong, but I'm prettttty sure that the NPCs are generic stock characters made quickly and cheaply and tossed into the back ground. But hey, if you think Bioware would be better off spending a lot more money and time ensuring that every single possible ethnicity is properly shown instead of making good games, more power to you! Down with great stories! Up with easily identifiable ethnicities!

I believe the codex goes into a little detail on the subject. At that point in time there's more of a pan-global culture that's reflected in genetics and appearance, natural blondes for example, are quite rare by then.

I've noticed a popular bit of fanon is that both Traynor and Cortez come from blended families, thus explaining THIER dark appearance

That's assuming that East Asian countries stay undeveloped, so to speak, for the next 170 years. China and Japan both have birthrates considerably lower than the US. (Japan is actually lower than 1.33 kids per women, I think.) And while India's is still high, it's been dropping like a bloody rock the past decade.

I'm less worried about the lack of asians and more worried about why every single human has exactly the same body shape.

What are they doing in the future? o.O

One thing I would have liked to have seen is somewhat fewer humans and somewhat more aliens in general. Have humans play a smaller role, basically.

That's difficult, since it's much harder to make diverse aliens than diverse humans.

Lack of realism? You mean in a fictional story about instantly being able to travel all over the galaxy with telepathic plants, mind joining blue aliens that live to be a thousand and a brain dead human being resurrected after 2 years when he fell from space to a nearby planet?

No, you just aren't paying attention or you are trolling, not every human is white in the 3 mass effect games.

Just at a glance, the list of names of the Fallen seems remarkably diverse. Yes, it's a bit skewed toward typically white names, but the game isn't really set far enough into the future to expect complete socioeconomic parity just yet and obviously there is a bit of cultural bias given that it is still a Western production.

It's suggested the British Samatha Traynor is ethnically south asian. She gets mildly offended at the party when
Kaidan Alenko assumes she knows something about Curry...

Kaidan, by the way, is the Japanese word for Ghost Story...

There's Fai Dan, Ethan Jeong, Emily Wong, Maeko Matsuo, Samesh and Nirali Bhatia, Aresh Agdashloo, Derek Izunami, Shu Qian, Kasumi Goto, Keiji Okuda, Kai Leng, and probably a few others I'm forgetting...

Also, Shepard can be any ethnicity...

Sigh, look... I'm sorry I raised a serious question on the INTERNET.

But hey, while I can read. While I EXPLICITY stated that this is not a politically correctness thread, you went on ranting about it anyway. You know what, have at it.

This isn't fantasy, I don't care if there's no 'asian' in thedas. This is a science fiction game. If you can't comprehend what SCIFI is suppose to be, you're in the wrong genre boy, leave it.
