Game is terribad. Can't believe I bought it.

That bad?

Nah I'm lying. I can't even play it on account of having a PS2, 3DS, and a wack laptop. I'm assuming Arkham Origins would suffer from "More of the sameitis" if I were to play. If that is the case that would be best case scenario considering that's what I'm expecting. If that's true, than it would be worth the purchase. I'll get it eventually whenever I get my hands on a PS3. Or a gaming PC. Whichever comes first.

What I've read amounts to what you're saying, that it's "more of the same" and seems to be trying to live up to the previous instalments rather than expand on them. There seems to be a cool detective thingy (yes, I'm calling it that) that allows you to reconstruct the scene of the crime and find clues. In any event, "more of the same" is not a bad thing when referring to the Arkham games.

I think it's the best thing they could've done. Think about it: a new company taking on an Arkham game. They'd have to be crazy to break away from the core game. If they get permission to do another one, I think they'll feel brave enough to expand. Right now, it seems to me that all they wanted to do is survive the industry.

Meh. It's blatant reskin.

Pretty much. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" can be beneficial at times though. Everyone at EA Sports who worked on NBA Elite and showed off a "from the ground up" product so poor that they haven't released a NBA Live game in three years would've done themselves a favor by following it. Although their situation was more of a "If it needs work, scrap it" model.

I disagree. AAA devs need to take more creative risks. This is a classic example of them not doing so. When the game industry has us thinking like publishers, something is wrong.

Been watching my stepbrother start playing it. So far, my impression is it could be better.

Little things are adding up, as he points out from time to time.

Combat is a bit laggy. I'm stuck playing hard mode against Croc. Its the off-screen charges he does that is hurting me. As the game progresses can we level up our combat speed? If so, I'll work it out and will appreciate it when I get better. If not, I'm restarting on normal. I love a challenge but this is more frustrating than fun.

Deathstroke needs his own game. Shame his role was quite small. Overall, Origins feels like a reskinned Arkham City. Still a fun game nevertheless.

You can unlock focus mode which kicks in after 12 consequtive  hits. It improves Batman's attack range and reaction speed.

I've been thoroughly enjoying it. The Deathstroke fight is good if a tad annoying at times.

In general, I agree. Especially concerning this Arkham franchise. It would be way more unfortunate than usual if this franchise were to stagnate. Batman and video games didn't go well together before Arkham Asylum. Things just started looking up in 2009. My bringing up NBA Live was really about developers establishing a solid base and then branching out from there to some really creative ideas. EA wanted to do some things to evolve basketball video games but starting from scratch, with the dev time they had, ended up being detrimental. What people played and seen wasn't well recieved. The Arkham games is a solid foundation that should definitely be evolving significantly at this point.

Give thanks to Paul Dini, Mark Hamill, Kevin Conroy, Arleen Sorkin, and pretty much everyone from Batman: The Animated Series. And, of course, kudos to Rocksteady for making it possible.

Well, from the reviews I've seen - they have seem to of did a solid job. I believe the reason they didn't try to "innovate" (I hate that word with gaming recently) is because they might of felt like an underdog and they knew that had a solid foundation to work from it, so why stray too far? If Rocksteady was developing the title again, I bet you would of seen more "chances" with the game, since us fans know from past experience what they're cable of, in relation towards Batman.

Personally, I'll probably wait till this goes on sale, it looks like fun, but I don't feel like paying full price at this moment. I'll be excited to see where next-gen takes this series, that is for sure.

That's how I'm seeing it. I can understand the negative reaction to even something as sound as that though. AAA gamme development is stagnant enough as it is.

Better than Critic. Hearing what the Public and gamers in general think is better if you manage to shift through all the useless 10/10 fanboy reviews.

Got past croc and the main story points have kicked in and I can't wait to go further. I'm starting to dig this game.

I've finished the main story and just have a couple of side quests to finish off now. I have to say I don't recommend paying full price for it at all.

The combat starts off a bit...off and just gets worse as the game goes on. I appreciate what they tried to do with it, but there's just way too many enemies that can mess with your rhythm and stop your combo dead, until you get a certain item later in the game which is basically an instant win. The camera is really messed up later in the game when there is a lot of enemies, you can't see enemies who's attack pattern starts off far away. It went from the chaos that you control in the previous games, to just a chaotic mess. That's not to say I'm bad at it, I still get a lot of S and A ranks, but it seems to be in spite of the game. I used to get 100+ hit combos in the previous games, the most I've managed so far is 69. They just threw in too many enemies that screw with the flow.

The story starts off good if a bit of a stretch, gets interesting and then just takes a nose dive. The pacing is weird, nothing ever feels urgent. That could be a problem with it being open world, but Arkham City felt urgent and purposeful. Origins just feels like a series of things to do. I played the final third in spite of the story, not to see what happened because it was becoming increasingly obvious where it was going. It felt like fan fiction. I can see what they were getting at, but there was no need for it.

I really, really liked it at first. It felt like Arkham, but the longer I played the worse it got. By the end it just felt substandard. It's not a bad game, it's a decent game with some issues. It feels like it could have used another few months development time. The obvious planned DLC they hint at irritated me too. It's worth playing, some people will probably enjoy the story, but I regret paying full price for it now.

****ing game froze on me while auto saving, I stared at that frozen screen for over 20 minutes before I worked up the courage to turn off my 360 and then turn it back on again. Needless to say my game file was corrupted and I had delete it, thankfully I was only about 2 - 3 hours through the campaign so, it would have been more soul destroying if I lost 10+ hours of gameplay data. Problem is that I know longer trust this game and I am afraid to go near it or play it ever again. Shame really I was really enjoying myself there for a while even if it looks and plays a bit too much like Arkham City.

So my save is broken. I'm at the GPCD and when it loads (I quit the game after I had entered yesterday) I'm falling through the game. So if you are at the GPCD finish the mission once you are inside or you could risk this. I'm pretty pissed. I'm not that far a long in the game as I've been doing mostly the open world things (activate towers, get enigma packets, etc.) but I don't want to restart and have this happen again. The official forum does have a large thread of other people going through this as well as other issues so WB has to be aware of it.

This is what my Batman is up to:
