However, the first part of the thread title stands true; I have, indeed, discovered a hidden playable character in the game, and he really is a blast to play.
But first things first.
It all started with operation Lodestar. Let's take a look at the "Stood fast..." banner.

When I saw it, I momentarily noticed one character that initially made me laugh.
The GIGAVORCHA.
Look how ridiculously huge is the Vorcha, compared to the Juggernaut for example. I started a thread mocking the banner, never even suspecting that GIGAVORCHA may be real.
But here's the funny part. The GIGAVORCHA exists and is a completely unique character, with unique looks and mechanics.
How did I found the GIGAVORCHA? Well, some of you remember my Platinum Solo, which included some Coalesced.bin edits that gave me an upper edge against Reaperwaifus and the power of Love. So I can name myself quite an expert on Coalesced.bin edits.
The thing is, while studying Coalesced.bin and files in general, I discovered this:

At first I thought that it is a regular Vorcha Hunter art, but then I noticed three things:
- 2 additional arms
- the fact the image was about double the size of a regular one.
And so my hunt for the Mass Effect Multiplayer Sasquatch began; I was browsing the files never finding any suspicious ones. I was showing the image of the GIGAVORCHA to people on my Origin Friend list.
"You're paranoid, take this tinfoil hat", said Air Quotes, and when Air Quotes tells you you're paranoid, that means something.
"Aye, it probably breathes fire and requires a Konami code to unlock", Annomander mocked me.
That's when it hit me.
I spent few days digging, trying to figure out the Biowarami code that would unlock the GIGAVORCHA, fueled only by my faith it is real.
And I did it.
HOW TO UNLOCK.
To unlock the GIGAVORCHA you need to:
- set your banner to "Stood fast..." (operation Lodestar Banner)
- start a lobby with BF3 Soldier as your character
- enter the key combination:
STORM, DODGE, DODGE, STORM, USE, REVIVE, REVIVE, USE, STORM.
If you enter it correctly, you'll hear a distant "I'M ALIVE!!!!" scream; Then head back and this is what you'll see:

The GIGAVORCHA is here, in the Adept menu, but that's because he's so huge; he is selectable in the Soldier menu:

The lore behind the GIGAVORCHA:
"Heshtok is a place where only the fittest survive and the Vorcha are amongst them. The allmighty Vorcha Colossus is a mutated specimen that uses powerful Mass Effect fields to float over the battlefield and bring the inferno of Heshtok's volcanos upon it's enemies"
Now, I should move into his build guide, but frankly, it's pretty straightforward character. Here is his power screen.

As you can see, the GIGAVORCHA has only it's passives, but that's because of the unique game mechanics. I wasn't very hesitant about the build - I split the evolutions 50-50 between the health and melee (but it isn't really melee, I'll move to that.
THE GAMEPLAY
The GIGAVORCHA (or - Vorcha Colossus Soldier, as it is named in-game) has unique mechanics that sadly allow him to shine only on open maps. He basically floats above the battlefield and BREATHES FIRE! The melee damage is all he possesses, he can't equip any guns, but that's understandable.
here's the in-game screenshot:

As you can see, the GIGAVORCHA is very large; mind that he's leaning back in this picture. I wondered why he has 4 arms and breathes fire. Initially I thought he is a nod to Mortal Kombat's Goro. But then I noticed that he is smoking a cigar and my palm struck my forehead. Of course! It's a reference to another BioWare game!
Now, I know that not many players here ever played MDK 2. I never finished it, got stuck on some Kurt level. But the GIGAVORCHA is an obvious "Max" insert (maybe paired with Fluke Hawkins monster form). I find it always nice when a company self-references itself (just like with the Space Hamster).
I decided to ask my gaming PC buddies, Air Quotes and Deerber to do a game where I could show you in the best possible way the glory of GIGAVORCHA attack. And we discovered another feature:
If two players select the GIGAVORCHA at the same time, one player choosing the Legs part in the Soldier screen, and the other choosing the Krodept (it's behind the GIGAVORCHA head part) in the Adept screen, they will control the beast together.
One player is responsible for the flying part, one for the "flame breath" part; I think that is the way it was meant to be played; Controlling the GIGAVORCHA alone is very difficult.
Anyway, here's the screenshot:

Have fun!
