Ill always give it a shot, but I'm not a miracle maker. Sometimes you just have to use a medigel.

In my case the poor pug was only diverting aggro away from the hack. Far be it for me not to come and rescue

Optimist.

A realist says he is slowing down the hack.

I always try to revive my team, mostly if possible. When they don't revive me I'll get nervous. I'll go to spectator mode and I imagine kicking everybody's a**.

Being a realist reminds me of a cage. There is always hope. How great is your tenacity to see the good in situations?

And I say it is largely irrelevant.

If you run and revive him you can guilt him into going back into the hack and speeding it up.  Meaning you have to waste less time in the match. =]

And selflessness is equivalent to selfishness as a result.

Soulstriker has a great point...if the pug went down and is contributing immensly...it is prudent to try and save them for the good of the team.

If a situation arises where it would throw the whole match...reviving is a thing subject to the particular atmosphere of the game. :)

Hardly.

Players realize when they are being picked up.
They also realize when they are not.
Some people take it personally.
The same goes for various things in the match.
That's why you have the majority in this thread saying "I pick up people, unless they don't help out".

That only genereates more spite and distance between the team.
"You're not contributing? Fine, neither will I. For you"
Others can watch as a person gets ignored. They shift their anger at those that aren't helping.
"Why didn't you pick this guy up? He's right at your feet" ///> "Because he doesn't do objectives" ///>"Ok? How would you like it if I don't pick you up. Since you're not putting in your weight to pick up that guy. You're not helping the team". Not a word spoken to one another though. This is a conversation that only reflects through their actions.
Then, when they've all bled out, they are more then happy to part ways because "Their team was ****".

I always try to revive, having said that, I have learned the hard way that rushing into a suicidal situation to save someone is very detrimental to the teams chances of success.

In certain cases I will engage and kill/kite the excessive bad guys away to allow the player to gel safely. It is always higher percentage for me to plan on soloing the remainder of a round than put myself in an unrecoverable spot ...

On an objective wave, my primary goal is always to accomplish the objective .. if someone dies on the other side of the map they better be using gel, that's what it's for. It pisses me off when people allow themselves to bleed out on an objective wave.

When it is a friend that does this, I berate them for being away from the objective and tell them they better use gel. Luckily this is rare with my friends ...

True. I've revived pugs that die in the most weird ways all over the map. I see a change in the style they play after a while:wizard:

I thought of an old exception: If I have to choose between extra credits for quickly finishing an objective wave and reviving a PuG, they're gonna have to use a medigel.

If I can do it safely with a good chance of us both surviving without wasting too many resources I will do it. Or itf it helps in other ways, for example, missiling a swarmed downed teammate may also be useful to take down the wave budget. If it's in the middle of a circle hack or escort objective, rarely, depends on the circumstances, though. If he is sniper that was cornered unexpectedly, for example, I'd go help. It's happened to me.

Oh yes, the urge is strong.
I always run to revive with my squishy fury, thinking that I'll have the pug revived and port myself through the next wall before those two ravagers and the scion who just killed him can target me. The thrill of watching which will finish first - my health bars depleting or the revive circle completing. Unfortunately, it works out often enough to have the reflex reinforced. :-P

If they're a pug it really just depends. If I can tell that they're trying to contribute to the team(doing objectives etc.) then I'll try my best to revive them. If they try to do the lone wolf stuff and die a hundred times (like somebody I saw today) and use all their medi-gels before wave 5 then I'm probably not going to help you no. If you're right next to me, then yeah I will. But I'm not going out of my way to revive somebody that's going to go down again a few seconds later.
