Hello my fellow BSNers, and might i say, fellow ME enthusiasts!

Basically I just want to canvas the crowds in here to find out if anyone else has had a similar experience to me.

I'll start off with the basics. I cannot play ME3 without having just played ME1 and ME2 - apart from my first 2 playthroughs, which i'd already lined up my Paragon Male Vanguard Shep and my Renegade Adept FemShep. I must admit, at first when i first experienced the pre-EC endings. I was shattered, i just sat in silence for a good 15 minutes just thinking, that all that build up led to a 2 minute cutscene that was near identical to the other 2 endings.

I was pretty unhappy. But i played through again, pre-EC and found a bit more enjoyment in it, and tended to disregard the fact the endings were pi$$ poor.

I then moved onto other games.

Then the EC came out. I thought i'd do a complete  game playthrough, 1>2>3. And this made the third game stand out for me as a much better game, and with the EC - my faith was restored.

But with each playthrough (with Leviathan and Omega and now with Citadel added on) of the entire trilogy, I find more and more bits and pieces to love about the trilogy, more and more bits and pieces that can be linked to ME3 from ME2 (such as the Shroud and Cerberus plans to study husk conversion) and it makes the entire experience fuller for it.

I used to think that Javik and Vega were 2 characters added in just to make up the numbers, but now cannot imagine playing through the game without them. I get Javik before Garrus as i want him there for as long as possible. And with each playthrough of the trilogy bringing something different, i cannot see a time when i will stop playing them. Especially since they've helped me through some tough times over the past year, they've been the perfect way to switch off from the world and escape for me. Anyways I'm kinda diverting from the point...

My point is, is how many of you have become more and more satisfied and attached to the entire trilogy with each subsequent playthrough of all 3 games? Especially those who were dissatisfied or angry with how they originally ended? How many of you have come to like and love (love like you can love a cold beer on a hot summers day) the endings the more you've played them? Surely I cannot be the only one!

Anyway, I'd better get back to work!

the only thing I 'love' about the endings is the fact that they're so vague headcanon can take over.

I envy you for the fact that you can enjoy the entire series without thinking to the end on not be put off.

Never anymore, the first 2 playthroughs after seeing how awful they originally were, but with EC and Leviathan mainly, the endings are brilliant to me. It really does boggle my mind that people either stop playing, resort to unofficial hotch-potch mods, or don't even start playing again when it's the best experience to develop your Shepard and their story and relationships from the moment Joker says "Drift...just under 1500k" right the way through to that particular Shepard having various beliefs and thoughts which help to guide you towards destroy/control/synthesis/refuse.

Already got planned now that once i've finished i'm having about a month break before i jump back into ME1 again. It's too good to stay away from for long!

Unfortunately the ending still doesn't make sense. But it's good that for you the money the wasn't wasted.

I don't play the endings. Twice was enough for me. I am currently running a pure Paragon (well almost, I slipped a few times heheh) run of the Trilogy and after Horizon, I will play the Citadel DLC, and end the trilogy there. I plan to play a pure Renegade on another run through the trilogy and will be ending it exactly the same way.

I have the hardest time trying to do pure Paragon.  There are some people that just scream to get Renegaded. Image IPB

However, I can't get past the Harbinger nuke.  Even though it seems they altered it to a near miss, it's still close enough to cause major electrical shorts in my armor that should, based on the damage I apparently take, kill me.  In 14 playthroughs now, I have completed the game 4 times so that I could reuse that particular Shepard in a NG+ game.  Other than that, I just die at the beam.

With all of the pieces there, it does feel more complete (at the cost of me having to pay to make it feel complete, but I digress).

Glad you're enjoying, I'm taking a long break from the game.

I don't have a problem with the ending cutscenes, and in fact i consider them (and mostly destroy) to be rather good, but of course the Catalyst scene is still out of place. I still can't believe how the Supermac or especially Casey didn't see what was wrong with this scene in the first place.

Did one playthrough with original ending. Tough.
Did one playthrough with EC high ems destroy, THEN Citadel DLC. MUCH better.
Next one will be MEHEM + Citadel DLC

Did one imported main shep for playthrough with original ending - horrendous trainwreck
Imported him again for 2nd playthrough with EC ending - still horrendous trainwreck
Lost the will to play for several months.
Installed MEHEM and imported another Shep. Game still has some flaws but at least there is an ending now that cuts out the cancer that is the bratalyst and delivers a narratively sound if singular rewarding ending. Made me want to play the series again thankfully rather than uninstall all 3 games.

I've played ME1/2 3 times now....and ME3 twice.

It's getting harder. Probably b/c I'm playing ME2 as a soldier now...and it sucks. It's like any other cover based shooter.

Currently doing a completionist playthrough of all three games, just finished Rannoch. I'm installing MEHEM and playing Citadel as an epilogue. I'm really enjoying the series, especially without the starbrat nonsense.

I've thought about doing a trilogy playthrough.

But I haven't been shot in the head nearly enough times to think that's a good idea...

Yeah, i love the entire trilogy, and yes, i do not mind the endings now that we got EC and Leviathan. Those two fixed every problem I had with the ending.

Citadel fixed the other problem i had with it, that being the lack of interaction with past squadmates.

Yes it will be sad knowing there will never be more content in this trilogy, but i just love the final packages so much, and i am still finding more and more fun with it. In fact my current playthrough is my first time as a biotic so this is like a whole new experience for me.

so... If you hate mass effect so much that it would take being shot in the head to do it, why are you even here?

often thought this myself about people who continually hang around the forum despite having not played the game since release or say how they'll never play the games again. O well each to their own I suppose!

Played ME1 twice, played ME2 once and started a new game but couldn't bother anymore ( the daddy issues of my squadmates were annoying me to the point I stopped playing), ME3 I played once and now started with the MEHEM patch ( yes I consider it a patch not a mod), but after playing The Witcher 2 and Bioshock Infinite I am accustomed to a higher standard in gameplay and storytelling so I quite that one

I found the game is worse with each subsequent playthrough. It makes the strong beginning and middle have an even more powerful what if feeling and the ending is unbearably bad, to progressively worse.

I still only have one complete playthrough of ME3 even with MEHEM and citadel ...ME3 tarnished the series

Still loving it, I seem to even dream about the characters at night. Just finished a paragon Talimancer Control playthrough now I'm doing a Renegon Jackmancer Destroy playthough. I used to play femshep exclusively but I wanted to see the M/F romance content. I was very satisfied with my Tali/Para/Control game, that was a very powerful ending.

Like you, I find more to love with each new playthrough. The arcs of many of the big decisions still irk me, but it's the little things that make the series great. The unexpected consequences linking from game to game, and enjoying finding just one more thing I didn't anticipate. Beyond that, I've always loved the characters, and giving them more time and seeing different sides to them is always satisfying. I felt the same way initially about James as you did, mostly because I ignored him my first time through. If it weren't for other playthroughs, I never would have seen how awesome a guy he is.

But, all that said, I've actually found myself liking the endings less and less each time. I was not ever devastated by them, but I was never in love either. Even with EC, you know going in that you're going to get 1 of 4. And they lack the nuance present in the rest of the game. So they've lost any power they ever had for me. I still don't think they're the worst things ever--and I've loved games with worse endings--but they're definitely not wonderful, and I continue to wish there was something more to them.

Yup, I constantly find new and interesting things to like (plot, uses of abilities, weapon combinations) on each playthrough that makes the overall experience better and quite enjoyable.

[Edit] Also, ME3 is the chance to get the band back together!

I'll probably play ME1 and ME2 again. If I ever play ME3 it won't be up to the end.

The concept of suffering through the game repeatedly so that it can eventually become bearable is unacceptable.
