Using lash on armored enemies.

Not knowing what biotic/tech explosions were.

Spamming powers like shockwave/smash.

I could go on about the real noob-stuff though.

I was scared when I first played Reapers/Reactor when MP first came out.
it was dark, and there was weird noise and screams everywhere.

Pretty much all of these. Also when I first tried the human soldier on the demo, I used Adrenaline Rush and was like, "How come I don't have time dilation?"

Falling down like a baby walking for the first time over and over again on Bronze - and then unlocking the Harrier after realizing I could buy stuff). After that, I only died a half-dozen times a match until I learned how to play. It was then I realized that the weapon (and how you used it) I used is 50-75% of what makes or breaks you, regardless of which kit you use. If I could go from 30 downs to six because of a weapon, well...

I also learned a thing or two as well.

Overload Spamming Turian Sentinel with M-12 Locust I, no equipment, Gold. Everyone died at the begining of every wave, except some Blue camo'd Shadow-did everything.
Still being kind of afraid of my first 50 games of silver, even with my RETIRED Destroyer+Typhoon.

I remember not doing objectives because I knew I wasn't very good and 'didn't want to get in the way'. I couldn't understand why people were shooting me between waves.

I remember speccing my human infiltrator for maximum cryo explosions. Full cryo blast, plus cryo ammo and Shuriken. I thought all the exploding ice was cool (even if it wasn't doing much damage). Come to think of it, I should try that again just for the lulz.

I missiled a brute on bronze.

I thought the Indra I was the most badass weapon in the game. An automatic firing sniper rifle? What could possibly be better?

Joining a Bronze PUG with my brand new Drell Adept + Avenger X and having the host change it to Gold. I think I got downed 5 times in wave 1, and we didn't make it through wave 3.

My first match was Firebase Condor against Geth. Got thrown into an already started match, and ran around wondering how the heck I was supposed to do anything. I also remember being unsure about the drone escort in my first matches, since nobody ran straight to it to activate it, I assumed activating it at the wrong time would screw something up, so I stayed clear of it until someone else had activated it.

I started about 4 months or more after mp started. I was totally clueless in my 1st few games and did the standard just shoot anything that moves kind of thing. Luckily some kind players early on told me how to do objectives. The learning curve is greatly shortened by coming onto these forums though. Info here makes a huge difference.

Everyone was specced for max fitness
Everyone was equipped with one fast firing and one slow firing weapon to deal with different defenses
I ran straight to the zone in wave 11 because I thought the shuttle wouldn't come if no one held the zone
I thought that since mp enemies didn't drop ammo, thermal clips were the only way to reload

Can't remember much of that time, but I do remember my very first Gold match...

I was still a Bronze level player. Got into a Gold match somehow despite specifically searching for Bronze. Just happens.

It was Reapers (hardest faction at the time), in FB Reactor (considered one of the worst maps at the time).

I can remember thinking, "Oh God why are there Banshees already in Wave 3? And there are Brutes EVERYWHERE! How are we supposed to do this objective surrounded by bosses?!" and so on. Fission Mailed around Wave 4 or 5 I think...

But yeah. That experience scarred me enough that I stayed in Silver probably months longer than I had to. I had all Rare weapons maxed before leaving Silver (note though that this was MUCH easier to do in those days).

I remember being scared to play online with others...so I played a few matches by myself..

Then finally I had the courage to try a public match... My quarian infiltrator with a shuriken and predator.... someone with a mattock Turian soldier... I remember that I loved the mattock in ME2 so I was kinda jealous.. lol

I had just come from the world of Dead Island multiplayer, and I assumed I'd have a higher survival rate playing alone. I think I wiped three times before I reluctantly joined a public lobby.

I don't see anything wrong with this.

I went into the the game after creating a noob Human Adept. I didn't understand the difference between game levels, and for some reason the default was "Gold". I entered the lobby with a level 1 and no consumables, probably with an Avenger I equipped, and was immediately kicked.

It took me a quite few times before I figured out how to even get into a game where I wasn't alone. I had many wave 1 Bronze deaths on Benning. That map has a special place in my heart.
