Backed by the power of Frostbite, a Dragon Age: Inquisition multiplayer mode has tremendous potential. I've echoed this sentiment many times. The setting and events of Inquisition also beg for multiplayer attention in the best way possible.

Speaking generally to the OP though, I have to say I'm not a big fan of Class and Race oversaturation. I can't really explain it, but there's a contextually sensitive break point with variety where I can't stop rolling my eyes at what is little more than a novelty.

Give me the four basic races, the three basic classes with the nine basic specializations. I don't need a Treant Leafstormer of Minotaur Hornmauler. Sorry.

Totally agree with your first point.

On your second point, I can see where your coming from, I don't want races/classes being added just for the sake of adding more races/classes to the game either. As much praise as I throw towards ME 3's MP, I would have to say that several of the later DLC kits just felt like they were added to fill a quota; especially the many variations on the Turian Havok and Volus kits with only one different power each.

What I do want to see is unique gameplay mechanics and styles to go along with the varied race/class selection; think back to (base) Volus kit, or the Geth Juggernaut kit in ME 3. I would like to see an expansion upon the foundation set by ME 3's MP in how new classes can offer not just a new flashy set of powers, but how they can offer completely new ways to play the game.

Sylvans, for example can offer the player a 'gargantuan play style' in that you can play as this huge creature with sweeping attacks that towers over foes. A class that doesn't use weapons in the traditional sense; maybe such a race/class could pick up enemies or boulders to use as projectiles. The obvious downside would be that your size would make you an obvious target, and while strong; Sylvans aren't nearly as tanky as something like a Golem, or a defense specced warrior.

Speaking of speccing into various powers and abilities, another way that BioWare could distinguish the fantasy creatures; like Sylvans; from the four base races and three base classes, is that such classes function as 'specialty' units. Such classes wouldn't have a large selection of options to chose from in terms of specialization, or powers, or even in equipment and weapons. A Sylvan would excel in the areas that Sylvans excel at, but that's it; you won't get the possible divergence with 3 Tree Ents like you would with 3 Warriors, each specialized differently.

If they can manage to make it be:  half Dragon Age  |  half ME3 MP  |  half SWTOR instance ...  ... amazing.

And if they can squeeze in a half or two of Skyrim, Kotor, and NWN  that'd be great.  That's not too much to ask is it?  Six halves?

If there is multiplayer in this game, it will more than likely be announced at E3 in a few weeks. If that doesn't happen, then it's probably safe to assume there isn't.
