Not according to the nation of Isreal.  He was forced and then risking his own life turned on the N*zis at the first opportunity.  Believe whatever you want of course.  You mean, What does Isreal know about WW2 and N*zis anyway rite?

As for Blood Magic, (without giving away any spoilers) a specific female character emphasized that people who follow the use of blood power change.  In short it's psychological.  A demon's deal includes more than you bargained for, hidden fees.  Blood magic is by nature, using life force or life itself as the basis and to increase that power you need more life force only gotten from external sources to pull from.  I'm gunna cut that short.

evil is a matter of perspective, plus its a game, no need to grab hitler by the mustache and drag him here as an example of what true evil is.

Do I have to repost myself?

Question:

Does blood magic work on sentient life only or anything with a circulatory system?

That's an interesting question, they lived through the camps, but the Russians and the Americans decommisioned them, scooped up the scientists and records and filled their intelligence agencies with former SS officers.  So I would assume more than the Brazilians, less than the Russians and Americans and probably about as much as the Germans.

Anyway Israel needs western support, so calling the Pope a war criminal isn't in their interest.

So far, in my almost 13 playthroughs, I havent seen single hint of "more than I bargained for" in blood magic. Joining GW on the other hand......

I know, right?

"Hey I wanna kill darkspawn, can I come?"

"Sure thing."

"Awesome, now what?"

"Drink this or I kill you."

"Dude...what?"

"When you are done we can discuss some side effects."

He wasn't always the Pope you know. Believe it or not he did start out as a town priest at one time and slowly rose to become a spiritual leader of one of the world's largest religions. Hey here's a genius idea! Why not wait until the man becomes Pope first then accuse him of being a N*zi after! Pure genius. The very height of sound logic.

Edit:

We are getting close to spoiler territory here, must navigate with caution.  Someone else (he's very young) pays the price to obtain that knewledge.  That is how it worked in my playthrough.

Someone else pays the price no matter what option I choose, blood magic is not the only one. By your logic romancing Alistair is dangerous evul thing as well then. *shrug*

Blood magic sometimes involves deals with demons. Demons are pretty evil.

See, this good/evil thing is always a problem because it involves viewpoints. What's good for one being may not be good for another and vice-versa.

To blame the tool is to not understand that tool. Blood magic simply is. Like oxygen or mercury or any other matter. Blood magic is incapable of being good or evil. How it is used determines whether something is good or evil, because ultimately only the user determines how it is applied.   Too much of something that one could deem as good, could be deleterious, no?  Take oxygen for example...too much can kill you.

A gun is another example. It is designed to fire a projectile with a certain mass a certain distance. Everything from there on is an opinion. Is the gun evil, one might ask? I say it is a gun. Incapable of evil or good. Is simply is a gun. Nothing more and nothing less. How it is used determines ultimately how it is viewed, but this does not determine what it is.

So to answer the OP...no Blood Magic is not evil. It is Blood Magic...nothing more and nothing less.

Whether something is good or bad never decide the "Thing" itself.

This decision applies only to you.

And you have to shoulder responsibility for your choise.

To be honest I started this game I thought I was going to make a blood mage and then use that power for the good of all, but in the end after playing through the game it was impossible for me to follow through on it. Every single blood mage we meet in this game is ruined by this power. They've either slid into doing incredibly distasteful things, or are completely out of their mind. I have no love of the Chantry but it's difficult, from an objective standpoint, not to see their point when it comes to blood magic. I'm sorry but as I go through this game and see blood mage after blood mage whose story ends in tears, no matter how just or noble their goal may have been, it would be an act of unimaginable hubris to believe that I would be different.

Also I'll point out to the people who talk about the greater good of sacrificing 1 person to save 100 and so on and so forth that that only become defensible if the sacrifice of the 1 person is the *only* way to save the 100 people. Using one person to fuel my blood magic when I have other options doesn't strike me as acceptable. On the other hand I do agree that the first blood mage power where you use your own life force to power spells is possibly a noble sacrifice.

On another point working blood magic is not a thing and thus is different from a tool (and different than a gun). Blood magic itself can be described as akin to a tool but the process of working blood magic is not akin to the tool itself, it's an action by taken by a sentient being. It is not therefore inherently ethnically neutral to cast a blood magic spell. Blood magic only retains its neutrality while the process and effects are being study, i.e. while it is simply knowledge but when a spell is cast this defense goes out the window as it is now like the action of using a gun which is not necessarily ethically neutral. Now none of this paragraph is meant to say their are no ethical uses of blood magic, just to point out that it's use cannot be defended in the same way you defend the ethics of your hammer, it instead must be defended in the same ethical framework a person defends their actions in.

Not exactly, as guns don't require a life to work, nor do they give you any sort of mind control or force you to consort with demons...

Edit: Oh ya and can we stop the Pope-dissin'? As a Catholic I'd rather not read that on a game forum Image IPB
