Why? He didn't need to do it to complete the solo, he just wanted a faster time. Like the guy who made the comment about zelda speedruns, its just a clever user of the game mechanics. Next minute BSN will say that all quake speedruns are not legit because they used rocket jumping to skip stuff. 

I think we are at a point where we have to apply the same speedrun categories to this game now: with sequence breaking (in ME3 terms objective skipping/shortening) and non-sequence breaking (objectives completed as they should). That way both sides can be happy (I don't see why speedrunners have to appease anybody IMO).

p.s. if the stair trick bugs anyone, then they are sadists and love getting sync killed for their own weird pleasure

TL:DR hack circle glitch is just a sequence break (something done in all speedruns), people shold state whether their time is non-sequence break or sequence break to prevent whining

What??? Sequence Break something done in all speed runs.....sequence break and a trick/glitch are two totally different things....last time I checked all of the speed run tutorial guides that Team Arelex and I have done together I do not ever remember ..ok lets just be direct...ever did this glitch so that we did not have to be in the hack circle. 

I do not get why people are dissapointed with other's wanting to see the game played straight without glitches? When does the mindset change to glitche's/tricks are now the thing people want to defend as opposed to playing the game straight and succeeding? 

I dont have a problem with Xcal. The guy's awesome. I was only dissapointed with the wave 3 glitch as if I were to try this on conole on any platinum solo attempt...I could not get the same result. It would be difficult for me to do half of the glitches I see on PC games from what I have read/heard on how to implement them. So I dont even try! This way if I get something done its never questioned. Again, love the guy's work I was just dissapointed in that one part. He's skilled enough to handle the hack circle in my opinion so the trick was not necessary. In other words I have more faith in Xcal to have been able to do the hack circle wihtout using the glitch/trick. 

1.Thats why I said their are TWO categories for speed runs, one without tricks/sequence breaking and and ones with (which is what you do and yes they are very good)

2. Nobody is stopping you from getting a PC but if its that big a deal, then that would count as the fastest PC record (until Hendrix) because of the differences but still a world record because it can't be discredited just because you don't have the resources to do it

3. He doesn't like taking chances, he could have stayed in the circle but why bother if he could shave off some time

4. People are right to be suspicious of PC runs especially because of N7-Link but xcal has several videos proving his skills in this game whereas Link was questioned for a long time for his legitmacy.

I think maybe you misunderstood my point but its ok. There's not need to go back and forth. I get what you are trying to say and I also made my point. Were good to move on to something else.

By the way on #2 ....I have this game on PC as well and have played with quite a few gamers here from PC ME3. I have a great gaming rig but I play ME3 on console because that is where I have had all of my Mass Effect playthrough's since ME1. I truly enjoy the single player experience and didnt want to restart it all over on PC when I already had the data on console so I stuck to conole for this game. I am not a rich dude but I am well off. Please dont assume anything about what I can afford...it would surprise you if you knew my personal career life especially since I am an investor and own various small companies .

The point is that he is not saying Xcal is unskilled. Far from it. Just that he is dissapointed that his friend (dont really know if they are friends or not) decided to use said glitch in order to complete a plat solo when he has faith that he didnt actually need to resort to using it.

My opinion...is that this is a huge troll. AFAIK It is not considered a legitimate platinum run with a cheat like not being in the hack on wave 3.

Apologies then bud. You wrote Nobody's stopping me from getting a pc and then mentioned me not having the resources so it did just read as if you were implying such a thing. I took the "resources" comment to mean owning the game on PC etc since it could not have meant in game resources as I have more than enough credits and mostly all of my gear maxed out so I assumed you meant it that way from how you wrote it.  Its all good. Things can be misunderstood in the internet all the time.

I remember when they did the KV/reegar Gold Solo speedruns... On the very first try I got within 10% of the record and I was already bored as f*ck from it, so I stopped. And yes there will soon be a sub 20 run... Anyways nobody cares anymore...
