Why are people ok with running with the pizza but think dodging the hack is a glitch too far? I don't mind either of them but imo running with the pizza is worse.
Wouldn't surprise me if most complainers didn't know the hack glitch even existed until this video.

Lawl at people still going on about the hack thing.

Seriously, just add 10-15 seconds to xcal's time, that's all the difference staying inside would've made for a Kroguard with a Reegar.

There, I just saved BSN from itself.

Also, you should upload that video Hendrix, doesn't matter if someone else beats it, it'd be interesting to watch.

I'm assuming you think that the hack is a clever use of game mechanics? I guess that means missile glitching is a clever use of game mechanics too, no?

Okay guise, go out and missile glitch like crazy. Clearly it's not that bad, when people run with objects, and aren't even staying in hacks anymore. Why bother play the game the way it's meant to be with all these exploits?

Xcal is definitely a beast in this video, but who is fooling themselves here the hack cheat does cheapen the accomplishment.. someone said oh it just a clever use of game mechanics so is the missle clitch, but nobody wants to see that bs either..

Someone want to point out the post where Bioware said it was cheating to use the hack exploit?

You can't because they have not made a statement on it. Last I checked they actually have stated missile glitching is cheating.

It's a damn game people, untwist your panties.

missile glitching clears out a whole room of enemies instantly whenever the user wants to, hack circle glitch lets you upload without being in the circle

How on earth are they the same level of bs?

Speaking purely from a speedrunning standpoint, I don't see the hack circle thing as any worse than pizza running or using the Reegar. It's a grey area: bending the rules like pizza running, but certainly not breaking them like missile glitching.

As for the Reegar, well if the fastest time is the goal, then obviously using the cheesiest weapon setup is going to be part of that.

And if BioWare suddenly condemned running with objects or the hack glitch? Would these clever uses of game mechanics become uncool instantly?

Personally, playing on console is so much better than the PC. Yeah, we have to pay for our right to play online, and we may not be able to run with objects that well unless you're running backwards with an Asari, but I value taking the objects slowly and doing hacks legitimately a hell of a lot more than the saved 15 seconds by ignoring the core element of the game completely.

I'm aware it's not as bad as missile glitching, but why make excuses for a few things, and then at the same token hate something else so behemently? Because BioWare condemns something? Is everybody really that sheepish that they can't think for themselves and hate something even if it's allowed?

Well, from my humble opinion, I don't think the hack glitch and the run with the pizza are the same thing.

When you run with the pizza you are not exploiting a glitch, it's a game mechanic( since the beggining it should have allow us to run ) besides, you still carry the pizza.

When you hack outside the hack you are not doing the objective, you are exploiting a glitch and the objective is doing itself, that would be like make the pizza carry itself or get the drone complete the objective alone or even 1234 disables.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

Obviously!!!

I mean, an exploit that saved at best 15 seconds is clearly the same as one that would make the run take less than 5 minutes.

Ugh, seriously, we're comparing the hack glitch to the missile glitch?

I understand people not liking exploits, hell, I stated earlier in this thread I DON'T like the hack glitch, but it made such a tiny difference for this particular run, and considering that if he had done it legit and taken 15 more seconds or so, all he needed was another solo attempt to take another shot at the RNG to get pizzas and drones instead, and voila, he gets the same time but now "legit".

Meh, Stentron said it best...

If people had abused this hack glitch as they did the rocket one, it would be. You save rockets/medigels/other consumables, and could be used to avoid enemies like Scions, Banshees, Brutes, Geth Primes, Atlas, etc... that wouldn't be so much of a thread otherwise. If you save yourself the neccesity of staying in that area, what's the point of the objective wave? NONE.

I'm just amazed how people defend glitching of any sort. Next time someone will find a way to do the 4 devices doing only one, and since the game doesn't seem to be supported anymore, BW won't ban for it, thus it will be a "clever use of game mechanics"...

Yeah :?

WTF the hack glitch is not remotely the same as rocket glitching.

One shortens game time and one appreciably trivializes the difficulty.

BW already said that running with the package is fine. You can "jog" with the pizza on console, btw, and I do it frequently .

This is a video game. We're not arguing abortion or drug use here. So no, playing this GAME to the standards set by its developer isn't concerning to me.

On the note of making exceptions for certain bugs/glitches, there are so many in this game that you need to define each of them as fair and unfair. BW never spoke on this issue, but they were aware and that says enough for me.

Not to mention, by doing the Hack glitch, you can RUN THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP, and take a ****ing nap. And guess what, the hack still goes for you, as if you're still in there, feeding it delicious, delicious pizza data. That is game breaking, and not in a fun way. There's no such thing as a true Platinum run when you do that. There's no honor in it. There's no honor in running with packages either. I guess some people REALLY care about those extra few minutes in a speed run. I guess I could really give a **** less.

Agreed with you. People will support anything, and their excuse will always be something ****ing retarded like "it beats RNG." No, you know what beats RNG? Unlocking all the Ultra Rares legitimately, like I just did. That's beating RNG.

The RNG cannot lose. The RNG cannot win. The RNG simply is. There is no game against the RNG, only the game you must play because of the RNG

True platinum run?Unlocking all the ultra rares legitamately?Honor? Would you like a gold star from Bioware or something? I think some of you guys need to look up the definition of the word "scrub", especially the bit about the person having their own honor code for every game that they expect people to follow, I bet you think throwing in street fighter is still cheap

It's not a glitch as such, it's just an unintended side effect of the way bioware created the whole "use / interact key thing"

It's intentional that you can pick the pizza up from a distance, and it was intentional that the button bound performed the exact same function.

Just like it's intentional that sprinting, releasing and repressing quickly keeps you sprinting, and it's intentional that your character can only perform one "interact / use" action at a time, with one overwriting the other.

Far from a glitch in my opinion.

Same with hacking. Unintended side effect of how fast the circle appears. I'm hacking wirelessly trough distance. :wizard:

I'm not really that concerned with what bioware deems as "official" cheats.. they don't really care about what happens in multiplayer right now anyways the cycle is over and the cost benefit analysis at EA has spoken. The only exploits that would make "official" cheats would be ones that affect the store revenue streams, which things like hack exploit clearly don't and missle exploit clearly does.  So many people are exploiting right now I would be surprised if we even see another ban wave.

But what Xcal did there was clearly circumvent the intent of the objective wave.. it doesn't anger me if that's the way you want to play, I personally wouldn't do it and then say look at my time, but everyone draws their line in the sand.
