Watched his video last night, congratz to xcal whether you like the hack circle glitch or not, it's here to stay and your allowed to do it. It's easy to activate the glitch, can be done on/off host very easily if you know where the edges of the circle are.

Clever use of game mechanics/working as intended. Deal with it.

While I think the solo is impressive and great gameplay, its also perfectly OK for people to think exploting such a glitch as NOT legitimate gameplay. 

This is simply opinion. I choose to view it as a legit plat solo, but I can understand why others wouldn't. Xcal's fanboys need to lower their hackles and get on with their lives.

Seems that some people don't seem to quite understand what a speedrun is. Glitchless would be a separate (and almost always slower) category. The hack glitch can basically be viewed as a kind of sequence break - something super common in speedruns.

If Multiplayer were offline/it wasn't a bannable offense, missile glitching would be on the table too simply because it's in the game. For a serious speedrunner, it wouldn't even matter that it has been patched. An unpatched version of the game could be used (again, assuming MP was playable offline) if truly going for the fastest time. It would also generally be super boring so most people would just run the "no missile glitch" category.

The same way numerous Zelda games have different speedrunning categories because the players want something different than the "anything goes" route. Ocarina of Time is basically a 20 minute game these days if all you want to do is get to the end. So some people play different categories that include more of the actual game in the speedrun either by requiring more than just "get to the end as fast as possible" or by disallowing certain techniques or glitches that enable such fast times and/or major sequence breaks.

If enough people that were doing speedruns had a desire to do it without the hack glitch, pizza glitch, or anything else that they wanted to disallow (like cobra missiles/armored compartments) they could simply make a category for it.

True dat. I think Xcal's true skill is inciting flame wars on BSN without even posting once.  I especially enjoyed biggs and cain's little girl catfight around page 5-6. Many lulz were had.

I get banned once and return to such hilarious threads?! Maybe I should do it more often. 

As for the hack circle... I don't like doing it, since it feels a bit too cheap for me (personally), but I don't mind other people doing it. Come on, hacks are like the easiest objective unless they are the central ones on London or Goddess, so whether you do it or not... it's not such a big difference.

I just can't see this guy as a platinum solo champion when he completes the objective by doing... nothing.

The heck are you talking about? Wether or not you're in the circle enemies will spawn and keep attacking. Enemies always approach the players location not the objective and it's not like you need to do something special while in the hack circle.

After about 10 failed attempts (including one disconnect) I finally got good objectives but miss sub 20 by 13 seconds. I admit defeat, let's see how long it takes until Xcal or someone else breaks the 20 minutes mark.

The objective completes itself while the solo master can run around the map and do what he wants.

Is using Incendiary Ammo with a character with Warp "not legitimate"?
Is taking "Damage weakness" instead of "Tech combo" for the Paladin not legitimate?
Is taking "Movement Speed Penalty" instead of "Headshot" for Tactical Cloak not legitimate?
Is taking "Recharge Speed" instead of "Detonate" for Electric Slash not legitimate?
Is shooting an Atlas or a Ravager where your shot count as three shots "not legitimate"?
Is running with the pizza "not legitimate"?
Is being on the stairs while a Banshee is trying to grab you not legitimate?

I don't see what's wrong with knowing the game mechanics, where the game is flawed, and using that knowledge to your advantage if it is not qualified as a "bannable offense".
The only issue I have with hackscaping is that it was widely unknown, hence the witchhunt.

Don't you remember debates about pizza running before? Same ****.

And your point? As long as Bioware is ok with it, why shouldn't it be ok? There is a line to what everyone consider legit or not legit but in the end it's doesn't matter what we think as long as Bioware says it's fine.

Bioware haven't commented on that glitch, they haven't said it's fine, but on the other hand, they haven't said it's an offense, so it's a grey area as far as I'm concerned, and I'm okay with cheesing the game if the oppotunity arises.

Seriously, just add 10-15 seconds to xcal's time, that's all the difference staying inside would've made for a Kroguard with a Reegar.

There, I just saved BSN from itself.

Also, you should upload that video Hendrix, doesn't matter if someone else beats it, it'd be interesting to watch.
