Just like to report a possible bug... My Warden's keep items keep disappearing after patching to 1.02a.

When I load a save game... it gives me a Quest Completed for Soldier's keep... and all my items from there are gone...  Deep in the old temple... and my mage now has no staff... nice.

And no... I didn't force load at some point with content disabled... that gives you clear warnings... I had not such warning.

Back up to an older save - is your stuff still there?

Yes... as I had been fighting skellies that resisted Dragonsbreath, I was using another weapon, I didn't notice that it disappeared about an hour's play time before.  So just have to go back there and carry on.  It seemed to go wrong between getting the item from the Elf burial chamber and the stone alter...  very strange.  I had been playing all along... no reloads, nothing...

Guess I'll just go back to that save game and carry on from there... at least I noticed it this soon and not a few more hours down the line... still, there's a bug in there somewhere.

I had a similar thing happen to me. I'm in East Brecilian forest... fought a revenant and some skeletons... noticed after meeting a 'crazy person' that Alistair had lost his boots and his sword - Starfang no less - and a nice crossbow he had. Didn't check whether mage had lost really nice staff (dragonsbreath, I believe). I didn't patch at all, unless the game does that automatically. But when I opened the game, I saw "Quest completed: Soldiers Peak" - which I had completed weeks ago!!! what's going on??

I just checked, and yes, the mage's staff had also disappeared. Is there a fix for this? a patch?

The best fix is to immediately exit the game when you notice the items missing, restart and verify that the DLC is authorized, and load a recent save where they existed and play on from there.

Any saves made after the items disappeared are bad, and cannot be recovered without the use of the developers console

Thanks! will try that. Thankfully I had a save from not too long before the disappearance took place. I'm just a bit leery that those items could go missing again without warning. Any reports of the items going AWOL more than once for the same player, in the same game?

The underlying issue is game suddenly deciding you no longer having the rights to use the DLC and stripping them from you. I know of no root cause for that glitch, and as players right now all we can do is be cautious about making sure the DLC is authorized before you start to play, and keeping an eye on DLC items for sudden disappearence

I had the same thing happen to me again, a second time, after quite a few hours of additional gameplay. Suddenly on loading I get the "New Quest! Soldier's Peak" message - the equivalent of the Blue Screen of Death, because I know my items have disappeared. I can now report additional behavior though: I have noticed that I fairly regularly get an error message when first opening the game. That is, after clicking on "Play" and escaping the opening cutscenes, when the opening menu opens (picture of two swords, and the options to "Resume," "Load," "Save," etc.), I get the message, "This game has downloadable content and requires the owner of the game to be logged in" (or something along those lines). The thing is: I *am* the owner of the game, my DLC is totally legit, downloaded and installed directly from the official website, using the redeemable codes that came with the fully-legal, retail, paid-in-full game I bought. And what's more, when this message pops up, I can see in the lower left corner that I already *am* logged in. Please, anyone from technical support, can you suggest a fix for this? It's extremely frustrating - both to keep getting that message about the owner needing to be logged in (I am logged in, but why does that matter, anyway? the DLC has already been purchased and installed), and to have important party items suddenly disappear. Thanks for your help!

Martin, the game is telling you that the owner needs to be logged in because likely a piece of the system that lets it verify that you are the owner isn't running. That piece is the Dragon Age Origins Content Updater Service. Try manually starting it before you start the game:

1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER

2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.

3.) Right click it and select START

There is also a beta fix available that resolves issues around getting the Content Updater service to start automatically when the game starts.

I did what Kepha suggested, but when I went to start it, it said that it's not on the local computer. So um, wtf? I verified the game cache in case there was an issue with that, still not found. Any help? Post/PM me whatever, I can't even bloody play thanks to all this DRM ****(wouldn't be an issue if the DLC simply worked for w/e system it was on instead of Account bs). Thanks Bioware/EA.

Kepha - thanks for the suggestion!  I'll give it a try. Do you think this might be connected to the Case of the Missing DLC?

Another piece of information that I can report. I forgot to mention this in my previous posts. In addition to the message I had been getting about the owner needing to be logged in, I fairly regularly get a message like, "you have timed out while attempting to log into your profile." This often appears about 30 seconds or so *after* my saved game has opened. It even happened to me after I tried Kepha's suggestion, above. These may be separate issues, but it all seems to be linked with this odd reqirement that the player be logged in continuously. (I *am* online all the time; but it feels kinda creepy, kinda invasive, that this game that I purchased, own, and have installed on my computer requires me to be in continuous contact with the Mothership. Does Big Brother really care all that much whether I complete that quest or gain that achievement?)

The "A server error occurred while attempting to access your online profile storage", and similar errors are related to the game trying to upload your characters and screenshots to this site, not the DLC. If you don't want to do that you can disable that in the Options.

The game doesn't require you to be logged in all the time. The DLC should all work just fine if you're logged out.

As for the case of the Missing DLC, we don't really have a cause for that yet. It could to be related to the game losing connection with the server while you're playing, but its hard to know for sure. It really is a mystery.

Hey, thanks, Kepha! It's possible I could be losing a connection with the server while playing, as I'm connected via wi-fi. But if the DLC should work fine when logged out, why would losing the connection be an issue, as far as keeping or losing the DLC? (I ask that rhetorically - not expecting we know the answers yet.)

I don't think the game handles internet interruptions that well. Its fine if there's no internet when you start the game, and you stay logged out, but I'm not sure its handling it well if you are logged in and your internet drops. It certainly doesn't seem to be able to detect that condition and log you out.

That makes sense. It might be better to play the game offline, given the problems (nuisances, anyway) I'm experiencing.
