Zathrian is pretty much a mirror of Loghain? I was thinking about it and they had similar backgrounds and have such hatred towards their enemies. I'm just throwing this out there. This isn't a flame fest against either character. I just found it interesting and wondered if this was intentional.
Does anything think that...

I think Zathrian is a little more hateful than Loghain, but if we let Loghain live another couple of centuries, we might get there.

Zathrian is unreasonable. Loghain isn't.

I find that Loghain isn't as self-interested as Zathrian (who's effectively damned a group of admittedly nasty humans to extend his own life. His family used to be the only reason for it, but he was doing it for the lifespan too), and that the good of Ferelden is genuinely one of Loghain's foremost concerns. But his time under Orlesian rule has left him a bit damaged (if you recruit him, he tells dog about a dog he had as a boy. It's pretty damn sad...) and very open to Orlais-related paranoia, hence the betrayal of Cailan, etc. Still, Loghain couldn't sacrifice his own daughter, even for the good of all Ferelden, so I think that he'd be just as pissed as Zathrian if Anora was killed. Zathrian could be a sort of depiction of what Loghain could become if his family was killed.
And both of them submit to an honourable death for what they believe is the good of their people. I was honestly surprised by how calm Loghain was when executed, how he accepted it because it "left Ferelden in my hands". Makes me regret it deeply, I'll have to harden Alistair and recruit Loghain next playthrough.

I think if Loghain lived a long time I could see him sort of getting like Zathrian. In a way I guess it's like a mirror to see the possible future? Even Zathrian repented when you forced him to see what was wrong. I think in the end even Zathrian felt guilt over what he had done.
