I have just recently finished my first run through the Mass Effect games, I played them all vanilla but wanted to play through again with some enhancements.
I will defninitely have the Happy Ending Mod installed on ME3, just to prevent further damage to my head or wall. Beyond that though, I wanted to trick out ME1 and ME2 in particular with the high res texture packs. What are peoples recommendations for these? I see a plethora out there but it can be difficult to get a handle on how they all compare. Which ones would be best to start with and more importantly have people found any combinations to definitely avoid?
Also I am running the games on
Core i3 2120 (3.3GHz Dual Core with HT)
8GB RAM
GeForce 560 Ti
Playing at 1920*1200
Will run the games from my SSD to help with load times when running texmod.
Windows 8 x64
The games never appeared to drop below 60fps with everything on max and some extra FSAA forced by the video driver.
Does anyone have experience with a similar setup, if I load it up with 4096*4096 textures am I just going to kill performance, or are most of the performance issues down to texture loading which would be mitigated by the SSD?
Oh, and back to the texture packs, I am finding myself in the talimancer camp, my usual squad is going to be Tali and Garrus, so recommendations on nice texture mods for either of those would be appreciated.

I'm not aware of any modifications aside from my own for Mass Effect. I made one which eliminates the experience penalty you get for kills whilst in the Mako and one which enables two hidden movies which exist in the games files but, to my knowledge, don't play in the game itself.

Well after looking around a little I found the below texture pack for ME1
http://www.moddb.com...mprovements-mod
I'm nearing the end of that and I will say that running it with these textures has made a big difference. The game is actually still very pretty with these additions, particularly the way it cleans up the film grain.
I also enabled the in game console
http://www.alteredga...er-cheat-codes/
and edited the bioinput.ini to bind some additional commands to certain keys. In this case I just made F1 - F4 do various tasks related to taking screenshots (Pause game, remove HUD, enable flycam and take a tiled screenshot). If anyone wants details of that just let me know.
Beyond that I couldn't find much else in the way of modifications for ME1. I am glad to report though that the game still runs perfectly on my setup, load times are increased as expected with TexMod, but once loaded the game runs smoothly 90% of the time. I have had an occasional session where my frames drop down to single digits. Quitting game, restarting PC and then relaunching have always fixed it though. Sometimes alt-TAB out and back in have also fixed the low framerate. Maybe a memory leak in texmod? I'm not sure.
I'm hopefully going to wrap up my ME1 playthrough soon and move to ME2, will see what fun stuff the community has created for that one!

New development in Mass Effect 1 texture modding for those interested
http://social.biowar...134/57#16929071
BSN user saltisgood has been busy getting features of me3explorer working in me1 and 2, now with some packaged .mod files and the me3explorer tool we can permanently update textures in the game without using texmod.
