Sure, feel free to add me! It's been a while since I played PC last. I should hop on again soon, really. I don't play it very often because I'm a tragic console peasant; I struggle so hard with keyboard+mouse controls that I feel like a total scrub when I try to play.

Just a few forum improvements. I don't see these on your list, Dragon, so here's a quick thing to add:

 

A way to make .gif avatars play properly.

 

Removing the bleach white of the forum and returning it to its old grey colour.

I know Bioware doesn't support the ME Multiplayer any longer. If that is so, could they just go ahead and open the Weekend Operation Challenges and Special or Locked weapons? Some of us were unable to do some when they first opened. I don't know all the weapons that are locked but I believe the Venom Shotgun, etc. are some. Besides, what difference does it make to Bioware now. It could make a big difference to us that still love and play Multiplayer. Thanks

The Chakram launcher is the only weapon that isn't available in multiplayer. All other weapons were either already in multiplayer or were added with the free DLCs and he promotional weapons that used to be given out as part of the weekend challenges are now part of the UR pool. As for resuming weekend challenges, that just isn't going to happen since that would require money and people being allocated to a no longer supported game.

I made a new simple randomizer using excel (since trollfot's is missing some DLC stuff) and uploaded it to google docs. It can be found HERE

 

Here is how to use it:

1. Download or open the .xlsx and enable editing if it is read only. IT WILL NOT WORK IN GOOGLE, you have to open it in Excel

2. It should already generate a character and class. If not press F9 and you should see 1 character and 1 weapon somewhere on the page*. Characters are arranged in rows based on class.

3. If playing with multiple players, press F9 to regenerate for each player

4. There should be only one character and gun shown. *If you do not see a character or weapon named, scroll right. Some of the ARs wouldn't fit on one page. Also, see the note at the bottom.

5. If you want 2 weapons, regenerate and disregard if it is in the same class

EDIT: 9:47 pm 6/12 - updated with a fix, Batarian and Vorcha soldier used the same number ID (same was true with HFS and Tsent); also set upper bound to 65 not 67 for characters. Should be fixed now.

 

EDIT 2: Reuploaded the old version as I was having problems with excel's randbetween command.

 

The old version works a little differently in terms of mechanics in that it determines weapon/character class before the actual weapon/character is selected. Statistically, version 1 does not give an equal chance of getting each character or gun. For example, the Hurricane has a 2.5% chance, while the lancer has a 1.1% chance.

 

How it works (if you care)

this document uses two of excel's formulas: RANDBETWEEN and IF. There are two of the former, one for weapons, the other for characters. For the sake of saving space, the actual cells are so small you can't see them. The RANDBETWEEN formula basically lets you set an upper and lower limit and every time you regenerate, a new number is selected. For the sake of equality, I put all weapons/characters in the same pool. See the changelog for an explanation on why.

the second formula is an IF command which is unique for each number generated by the RANDBETWEEN formulas. For example, the formula for the Asari Vanguard is "=IF($C$2=58, "Asari", "")" that means if the Character RNG produces the value 52, Asari will be shown, and if not, it will appear blank. Since the RNG only generates one number which is unique to one character/weapon, only that character/weapon appears and all other cells are blank.

One last note, I'm not quite sure how great Excel is as a RNG, so duplicates may occur

Ummmm... will admit I didn't read the whole thing. Read the first page and, like, the last two pages and largely just saw a lot of (humorous) satirical tips with the occasional real tip thrown in there. Did I miss the useful stuff somewhere in the middle or...?
