You should realize the meta implications of why she's required in the DLC that's about her.
See, this is why I disliked the MotA DLC and Tallis' part in it. I can set aside my dislike of the character, the Voice Acting and the railroaded plot points, because it's all subject to opinion (or it's something that was done in the core of the game).
But... Dragon Age 2 was about Hawke's journey. The entire thing revolved around Hawke's life, Hawke's rise to fame, Hawke's position in Kirkwall, Hawke's great triumph and Hawke's great legend.
Then MotA happens and the consistency of Dragon Age 2's design, what little consistency there actually was, is thrown out of the window in favour of show-casing a completely random NPC that you know next to nothing about. For the entire DLC the story is no longer Hawke's, the consistency is no longer there, it's not "Hawke's legend" anymore. It's the great adventure of TALLIS.
Suddenly dropping the singular driving force that the game had and replacing it with something completely new, for any reason, is boggling to the point of insane.
Having a brand spanking new character, that I knew utterly nothing about, suddenly swoop in and completely change the very fabric of the game's core design... It permanently marred my opinions of Tallis because Tallis completely changed the game.
I don't like Tallis for a number of reasons, and maybe it's childish to let the game's directional "issues" affect my feelings for her character, but I would not like to see her again.
