Those of you who have forgiven Bioware for Mass Effect 3, why?

I can understand if you just don't want to be bitter anymore, but to say you've forgiven them for all the lies and shoddy storytelling doesn't seem to make much sense to me. Even with the extended cut, many of the problems with the ending were still not solved, and even introduced new ones. And the Citadel DLC was pure fanservice meant to placate anyone who still wasn't satisfied, giving you an extra story that had no relevance to the main plot whatsoever despite promising to be a proper sendoff to the trilogy. It was thematically inconsistent with the rest of the game, and forced anyone who wanted to have that as a proper sendoff to leave the game incompleted.

Basically, why forgive an inferior product that almost completely invalidated nearly every choice from the previous games, left enough plot holes to sink an aircraft carrier, and ended on such a sour note as to warrant the one of the largest backlashes in gaming history?

I cannot really say I've "forgiven" them, but hey, forgiving means peace of mind. Sure, the ending stays the way it is. Yet people who forgive are free to move on and take new things for what they are, unburdened by the past. To me, that sounds cool.

I have forgiven... I just dont forget. And those who do not forget history will avoid repeating it in the future.

Thus avoid Bioware.

I'll forgive them if they won't screw up DA3 or ME4

Because I never expected anything better (despite all the hype BW tried to raise).

I'm not exactly sure what I need to forgive them FOR.

Near everything that is claimed as a "lie" or an "insult" is sensationalist garbage created by bitter fans looking for a reason to justify their rage; even if they have to make up said reason by ripping quotes of their context, twisting meanings, or outright fabricating material.

Bioware told a story, one that I wasn't particularly fond of. EA and Bioware didn't put a gun to my head and force me to preorder sight unseen. I did that myself, and the only one I can blame for that is me. They didn't "hurt" me. They didn't "steal" "my story", because it was never mine to begin with. They made a poor product. Oh well. **** happens.

Lesson learned.

Because I'll be 50 years old next month, and there are more important things in my life than a video game ending?

Games are not about why. Games are about why not.

Forgive?
This is not friend or relative. EA/Bioware is a company that exists to make money. People that work there would do everything their job demands them to do - if needed to lie to consumers too. Some will even go above the call of duty to get promotion. Happens everywhere, really.
This is not relationship that forgiveness has something to do with.
I am clearly more wary of future products and do not trust the company as much (no preorders here). However they used to make products i really loved so i still stick with them unless they go too far,i guess.

I'll buy Dragon Age 3 second-hand or not at all, depending on the reviews. If it lives up to the name that Dragon Age: Origins created, I have "forgiven" BioWare. Until then, they won't be getting any money from me.

Sums up my feelings.

The problem is people twisted what BioWare said because they wanted to know everything right away and not wait to know anything about the game.  This is happening right now with Dragon Age 3, you go to the boards and people are almost begging to know more about the game and I applaud BioWare for not giving in to them. To me this shows that BioWare has learned from what they did with the hype of Mass Effect 3 and gives me hope they learned elsewhere too.

because some of us have a grasp on reality and a more concrete idea of more important things in life to worry/fret over.

my advice..move on...if you're so butthurt over this still...than I truly feel sorry for you when something really worth being upset/angry over really comes into your life.

Yep. Pretty much what chemiclord said, except that I liked ME3 more than he did in the first place.

Citadel DLC was thematically inconsistent with ME3, but not with the entirety of ME. Blame ME3, not Citadel DLC.

Fully agree. I don't understand the hate, I had a great ride for the whole trilogy and was given satisfactory closure in 2 out of the 4 endings. The fact that I keep starting new playthroughs after promising myself to move on to a new game tells you something.

Has it really become a social taboo on BSN to like ME3?

At best, ME is escapism. At it's core, it's a freaking game. It's not rational at all to be insecure about how other people feel about a videogame. Come back down to Earth, please.

This post is not an insult attempt or any kind.

And here I fail to see any, even smallest bit of logic.
Why play the game while being still angry at comapny and the game ?

I think I won't bother with ME4, after all Shepard WAS Mass Effect for me and without him/her it'll feel empty. Posted Image

I think Mega might have been making that very point...

As for me, let's see... Have they apologized yet?
