Popping the sacs do 10% of their max health as damage, and they have 4 of them in total. I've not actually tested if the little blue circle is considered a proper headshot or not(though I have gotten a headshot medal from killing a Ravager before).

Anything that has a sac also suffers from the piercing bug that the Atlas does, until you break the sac.

As far as Phantoms/Dragoons go, the only Cerberus unit that overrides your gun's headshot modifier is the Atlas.

All other units get your normal weapon headshot modifier, which is mostly 2.5x.

Boss: Banshee, Atlas, Prime, Praetorian

Demi-boss: Brute, Phantom, Scion

Mooks: Cannibals, troopers (Cerb/Geth/Collector)

Cheap game mechanics: Husks, Abominations, pets (Reaper/Cerb/Geth/Collector)

Lieutenants: Everything else not listed.

Perhaps not by definition, I have played many RPG games over the years and as we know to progress to the next level one has to beat a boss type enemy. When it comes to MP I see a phantom as a far greater threat than an Atlas, for the most part an Atlas is a joke.

Reepers seem to be fine as is, geth - no comment, Collectors are another interesting one, Scion's...vs one it's fine, I can't remember if this happens on gold but on platinum you will often see three of them spawn together, that to me is a major boss problem, but it depends on my kit as well, sniper and it's not much of an issue.

With my luck, I consider Prime/Drone stun lock to be as good as a sync kill on Gold and up :sick:

He's right. Geth primes can sync kill on wave 3.

Trying to shoehorn a precise definition for an arbitrary term makes little to no sense to begin with. The resulting answer will be flawed due to the nature of the question itself.

When I was a silver player, I might have called phantoms bosses, and mainly because they sync-kill.

However, sync-kills is a terrible determination, because this includes brutes, and excludes Primes.

Phantoms are similar to Dragoons, Captains, and maybe even Ravagers in my mind. They can mess you up if you're not aware of them; but they can be killed pretty quickly.

If anything, I'd consider them mini-bosses now.

I'm sure most people's answers have to do with what they typically play (platinum players see them as non-bosses, silver/bronze see them as bosses, and it's probably mixed amongst gold players), but that's just my hypothesis/generalization.

You can add Shadow Strike, Concussive Shot, and Geth Plasma Shotgun to the list. And while I don;t consider them to be bosses, I can see why people may see them as such. Without Phantoms, Cerberus is a joke. Without Atlas, it'll be a little easier, but still somewhat tough.

Just a little thing though: by your definition (the lol...thing list) a phantom is not a boss, but a brute/scion is.
Only a few thing on that list can kill them quickly (flamer,biotic hammer)...not saying phantoms are bosses like an Atlas, but neither are Brutes and Scions then.

The term "boss" is kind of misleading. For starters, what are people's definition of bosses? Is it HP? Is it the ability to headshot 2.5X or 1.4X? Is it armor? Is it sync-kills? Is it how much spawn budget they take up? A combination of the above?

In the end, whether a unit is a boss or not is not important. I think the better question to ask is what units are particularly dangerous in the game or what units are the ones will get you killed the most in the game.

Still, they are bosses. If you don't use one of these methods they can be tricky to kill, and can mess you up in very short order
