*nodding* wait... who mentioned fan fiction?

Edit: nevermind. I found them.

My main problem with the destroy ending in particular is why is Shepard walking towards his death like a suicidal maniac with nothing to live for, when nothing could be further from the truth.

That's what he does? I haven't gotten that far yet. I refuse to touch Priority: Earth till I get 4000 EMS or higher. Quoting Miranda support banners: "I accept nothing less than perfection."

I've only started ME3 ending once, and I quit before the ending. Based on the banners, I was scared at what I was going to find.

I am a console scrub who cannot ever hope to play through the happy ending mod.

I still take it as my canon ending for shepard.

You either "die" taking over the reapers, or die taking a leap of faith that turns everyone into a "sunshine-and-lollipops" kind of husk, or blow up a power conduit with your pistol, only instead of doing it safely from a distance, Shepard walks towards it and allows the explosion to engulf him.

No, you didn't.

The fact that you feel the need to edit what you don't like is pretty symbolic of the MEHEM and ending situation.

THink of it as exerting player agency

No more edits to my post, please.

I really do think the MEHEM is a feel good version of a bad ending. It uses the EC as a template and that's the problem. I would have been satisfied with a better Priority Earth mission that takes my choices into account beyond a universal EMS number. Also, the Crucible needs better/believable exposition but that requires a rewrite of the Mars segment near the beginning of the game.

And I find all the "good" endings in the game to be just that:  feel good versions of a bad ending.

With MEHEM, I at least don't get a feel-good whitewash after Shepard sells his soul and then burns for it.  I get an upbeat ending worthy of Hackett's speech

Exactly.  My Shepard had sticky grenades.  Why wouldn't he put a sticky grenade on it and then run for cover?  That's one of the main problems people have with the ending, it goes against his personal nature.

I think his grenade inventory would be empty, even so, what's so hard about shooting it from a safe distance? As I said somewhere on my "What if you were Shepard" Forum, A better theatrical suicide would be using the Omni-blade on the whatchamacallit.

You do realize that most of your threads are little more then fanfiction right?

Okay, I played MEHEM just now and it's awesome.  Terrific editing on the sound and video given the limited tools available.  And great song choice for the closing credits.  It works for me.  Sure, it doesn't explain the mastermind behind the Reapers, but so what?  The Reapers are tens of millions of years old.  For all we know, the mastermind could have skipped the galaxy eons ago while his minions continued with their prime objective.  No reason for star brat to exist in this version of the story's ending, they had already pretty much pieced together what the Reapers were all about anyway, especially if you played Leviathan.  Great job!
