I have been using Javik/Liara Combo thus far with my insanity adept. Just finished priority Citadel II and have Kaidan back. Took him to the Ardat Yakshi Monastary and I wasn't too impressed. Am I missing something here?
Respecced him out of barrier and went radius + recharge speed on reave plus chain shield overload. Maybe I need a better gun recommendation? Been using the acolyte on him Javik and Liara.

I prefer Javik. Pull and Dark Channel are great set-up moves, and you have lift grenades to boot.
Reave and barrier are great, but cooldowns are too long for squadmates.
Throw a good assault rifle on Javik, give Liara squad Warp ammo, and drop biotic explosions like it's your job.
That's how I did it.

I gave Kaidan the Revanant and Carnifex and he seemed to do fine with both.

This was my Kaidan build and again, I had no problems with him.

Barrier: Barrier Strength, Power Synergy, Power Recharge
Reave: Radius, Recharge Speed, Damage & Duration
Overload: Chain Overload, Recharge Speed, Shield Damage
Cryo Blast: Radius
Alliance Officer: Weapon Damage, Tech Damage

Javik I gave the Particle Rifle (as I believe only he should use it). Definitely put the Magazine Upgrade on it since the gun is one of those the longer you (or the squad AI) holds down the trigger the more powerful it gets.

I still think the best pistol is the Carnifex so I gave that to everyone who can use a pistol but usually use their other weapons

I think Javik too, but honestly Shep is a BE factory all by himself.

I've been rolling 1 biotic, 1 tech and 1 combat, ME1 style, on most of my AdeptShep PT.

Usually Ashley, EDI/Garrus/Tali and Shepard.

Javik is better than Kaidan. Dark Channel is his longest cooldown, but like Liara's Singularity, his Pull has a very rapid cooldown. With Javik and Liara, I rarely use my Adept's own Singularity or Pull.

Between Javik's Dark Channel, Pull/Slam, and Lift Grenades, and Liara's Singularity, Warp, and Stasis, Adepts--and Sentinels--can throw out a lot of biotic explosions.

I basically use Kaidan's Reave force myself to use my Adept's own Singularity. (Plus my FemShep Adept romanced Kaidan so it makes a lot of sense from a story perspective as well.)

Why not both ? If you have both Kaidan and Javik using particle rifles, they can pretty much play the game themselves. Kaidan provides tanking and anti shield/barrier support while Javik provides grenades, dark channel and pull. You can do without Liara pretty easily if you take warp ammo as a bonus power.

becuase Liara's squad recharge speed is too godly to not take her!

My adept didn't even need biotic squadmates. It was Tali + Ashley all the way. If Kaidan were alive, I would find myself using his overload more than his reave.

To be honest, I prefer Javik. Mainly because he's got the better comments, but I love Dark Channel
