It is possible they could be the at the  end of DA2 we learn warden is currently missing and So is the Champion I belive she is part of the Seekers and is trying to find out what happen to them.

Cassandra is the one who says that the Warden is missing, for all we know Leliana might know and just not say it since her mission is apparently looking for Hawke and not the Warden.

^this, sort of.

I always took Cassandra's "Gone, just like the Warden" as a sarcastic shot at Leliana because she doesn't want to tell where he/she went or why he/she is gone. Just like Varric isn't interested in telling where Hawke is.

And perhaps if your Warden is Dalish, Merrill really DID see Mahariel in the Lowtown market.

Mind=blown.

Thats how I always interpreted it lol. Makes it seem like my Warden was looking out for Merrill from the shadows....in a creepy....kinda stalkerish sort of way..... ok maybe not. But he was still there!

I didn't play as a Dalish in DAO and in DAII Merril mentions that she thought she saw Tamlen in the marketplace, I think. Is that what you're thinking of, or is it really different if you played Dalish in DAO because that would be kind of neat.

The Warden is hinted to be seen in Denerim in the epilogue slides of DA:O, who's to say s/he doesn't just show up to meet with good 'ole Alistair as a annual thing? :3

Because Alistair is a drunk, somewhere, or dead?  The Kleenex box in my sig was created specifically for him.  Grief is one thing, but bromance grief is really tiring after a while.  As a character, I truly loved Alistair.  As a person, I truly hated him, and either run him off or kill him after the Landsmeet duel.

Use your imagination, if Alitstair is dead or a drunk the Warden might have other things pulling him/her back to Denerim.

Let's see:  CE Female, going back to where she would have likely been executed for killing the man that intended to rape her, and did rape her cousin, and killed both her fiancé, whether she was happy with getting married or not, and one of the other girls captured when she was.  I really wanted to wait until the city had been completely leveled by the Darkspawn before I moved in and did my Warden thing, but the game didn't allow it.  So I can't see any reason to go back there, since it's still under human control.

Dwarven and Dalish Wardens would have no connection, and therefore no reason to return.

HN maybe.  Especially if one married Anora.  Which is likely since Alistair isn't involved any more.

imo, if they never use the Warden again they should never use Leliana again either...

Leliana is like the liara of the DA universe, shes gonna pop up here and there if we like it or not:pinched:

^This. I'm not fond of Lelliana, but I do have a warden who romanced her because I was curioous about it.

I wish they'd leave her out of the games, but they won't. As far as I'm concerned, she is in Orzammar, living with my warden.

The CE still has family there, does she not?  Not to mention all the friends she ever had before being whisked off by the Wardens.  Then again, she might have been passing through to catch a ship.  There are plenty of reasons why one might visit Denerim, personal or otherwise.  That goes for Dwarves and Dalish too.

If you want to come up with reasons why something doesn't happen, be my guest, it's a waste of time since it entirely depends on the outlook of each individual player.

"If you want to stand around telling us why something cannot be done, we will stand here until the Archdemon is upon us" - Morrigan.

Personally I would figure that any number of personal aquaintaces could figure to meet the Warden in Denerim. Bella or Kaitlyn, Anora, Shianni, Valendrian, Cyrion, Soris, Genetivi, Wade & Herren etc. it's all up to you.
Even some companions might meet you there, since Leliana and Zevran travel around why wouldn't they attempt to meet up with the Warden in the capital of his/her homeland.

What you headcanon works for you, but your reasons why something shouldn't happen won't change my own.

Regarding Leliana's status with the Warden, I'm reminded of Jaheira's romance epilogue from Throne of Bhaal.

The epilogue mentions that the Bhaalspawn and Jaheira had their moments when they were apart from each other for large parts of time, as their adventures/responsibilities took them places. Despite not being physically close in proximity, though, they were always together and Jaheira never worried because if the Bhaalspawn would give up becoming a God for her, there was likely nothing that would come between them.

It would be good, but just as one of the options. Like in DA: O where we had some choices how to end this. And I think that would be best, because some people like happy endings, some people don't and I've heard much less complaining about DA: O or DA: A endings than on ME3 ending)
I think since you give us choices during the game, you should give us choice how to end this. I think it wouldn't hurt you))

The warden is gone OP. Just let it go...
I think Leliana, (while dead in my personal playthrough) is set to be the modern day Andraste or something.

My point was more "Simply because the Warden isn't beside Leliana in DA2, doesn't mean that they are no longer in love"

I can see why you feel that way.
The player shapes their warden through a mix of gameplay and headcannon.  So we become attached to the warden.
Bioware creates the companion characters, so they become attached to the companions. It makes sense for Bioware to want to continue using characters they have an affinity for. Hence why they keep returning as cameos etc.
But the warden is a blank slate with too many variables and it would be a headache for Bioware to include him/her in any significant way in future games.
So... best to let him/her go.

Well, given Leliana in Sebastian's Act 3 mission can mension that the Hero of Ferelden "is dear to my heart" (is, not was) I can assume they stay a couple at least until the Warden's disappearance.

I just hope in the end, the Warden is less Revan and more Bhaalspawn...

if romanced in DAO, are they even together anymore? maybe it's just me, but her codex entry, current role etc kind of make it seem otherwise. :/

Leliana left the warden in Awakening, "to answer the Grand Cleric," she wrote. As far as I concern, she and the warden never been together after the end of DAO. They went their separate way. Apparently, she lost contact with the warden by the end of DA 2. My warden never wanted her to be part of the Chantry but she wanted to devote her life to the heretics, so be it.  It doesn't matter anymore. She lied when she promise to be whatever end my warden will be before the battle with the Archdemon. Therefore, she is as good as dead to me.

Possessive and controlling?
What do you know about being a warden, Plaintiff? You never play the role of the warden. You only observe and direct the warden from your comfortable sofa to know what's it's like being  left and neglected.

A lot of people were pissed off when Morrigan left their warden to fight the Archdemon alone. At least Morrigan did told the warden that she would not sat idlely and watch the warden died. There's concern in there whether you romance her or not.

Do you know how many battles I fought without Leliana?
She wasn't there when I fought the Broodmother in Awakening. She wasn't there when I fought the Harvester in Golem of Amgarrak. She wasn't there when I fought Varterral in Witch Hunt. I RISKED MY NECK TO SAVE THE WORLD  and where was she? Too busy with her delusional stupid god. So don't tell me about being so possessive and controlling. A fanatic religious zealout cares and loves no one other than her stupid god. That's who  Leliana is.
