 to an extent, of course.

Anyway, after spending all day finding nothing but box/rio, mobile box (Juggernaut)/Giant, mobile box/glacier, missile glitchers, and leechers, I found a good game.

Communication was present, consumables were used appropriately, and everyone scored evenly.  The best part was, it was a completely random lobby... nobody knew eachother in there.  The worst part, RNG gave us Rio/Reaper... :(

Thank you to those individuals that allowed me to enjoy myself.  You've somewhat restored my faith in PUGs.

I wanted to play more but I've been playing all day... had to get off and let my fingers rest.  Plus, I wanted to end on a high note.  :)

That's a good reason to end. I still don't know what I like more, a well controlled team game or a highly competitive game.

All I do is pug, real gamers play whatever hand they are given, and win.

That sounds a lot less badass with the word "gamers".

maybe, but I couldn't think of anything else. Couch/chair jockey/s somehow doesn't hit it.

Nice. When having a bad streak of pugs, at least there's always those one or two bright spots.

Try joining lobbies not games in progress. If u don't see any competent players then just move on. After a good game with a decent team say few good words, send some friend requests. One day u will notice that ure no longer playing pugs ;)

Maybe men would work?

I always have someone online to play with whenever I'm on.  Unfortunately, ecks bawks was having issues with messages / party chats / invites all night long.  I normally enjoy the occasional PUG match... you never know who you might run into and it often allows me to share some knowledge.  Regardless of what players look like, I always give them a chance- assuming they put some gear on.  Yesterday, however, was a joke.  I Honestly can't count how many missile glitchers I ran into last night.  BOO!

I'm confused...What is the purpose then of the Public--?---?---? arena (where newbies to MultiPlayer go to gain experience, and money to buy weapons, upgrades, characters). Is everyone who goes to those areas considered pugs? I have seen 'elite' players, with characters promoted more than 20 times in the Public arena, getting points that others like me are struggling to get without getting killed too quickly. On top of that, I have seen elite gamers leave a match just at the end of a 10th wave, and in the process of doing that, reset the match and ( in my case) the system freezes and can't get back in; thereby losing all my points.

Whenever I am able to sign-in to a Public--?--?--? game, I have no control whatsoever on where I end up playing. I always use Public --?--?--Bronze and I have been taken to Silver, Gold, Platinum(once) instead of Bronze. So Am I supposed to just be hosting?

Please clarify, as I am a gamer but not as efficient as most of the gamers here appear to be. I want to progress from being considered a pug to an accepted member of the ME3 community. TIA:huh:

Meh.

I found lobbies earlier tonite that were guddawful shames of soldiers, ripe for the airlock. I struggled a little to carry their sorry butts to gold victory.

Later in the night, I found some excellent puggers who seemed to be a team minus their fourth. They were all low level N7s, but played well on gold. The host wanted to up the difficulty to plat, so I threw my GI at the party.

I did have a ridiculous score, but we full extracted in 25 from White Cerberus. Did the same map and enemy again with my Justicar and had a similar result, without as much of a score margin but the same time within 10 seconds! Not remarkable times, but for their loadouts I was very pleased.

PUG teams are as good as the lobby you are in. Make the best of them, and they will surprise you happily. Sometimes though, you will want to bite their heads off, especially if you are a Krogan carrying a weak Salarian.

By definition we are all PuGs if we join a public game; so don't worry about the label. Also, BSN is a good place for bragging rights; it doesn't mean we play well. I'd never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

High N7 is not really a sign of skill on its own; it just means that they promote a lot. High challenge rating just means we ground out the time to complete challenges. To be fair though it all adds experience.

I'm a PuG player always. I don't host much because lag means no one would thank me for it. I don't have much trouble getting dropped into the wrong level these days, maybe PC has it sorted. I don't know. But hosting certainly helps.

Players used to leave at the end of  wave 10 all the time once they had the credits. Not so much these days with the extra gain for extraction. Me, I always played for fun; extraction is the whole point.

"Elite" gamers, may score 1st place, but you all get the same points. Its a Co-op game. But yes, they can kind of spoil the fun by wacking everything. Generally, it means they know the game mechanics better, and can read the map, getting things done before you can. Been on the receiving end of that a lot...

I think your well on you're way. Play hard and have fun; it's the only reason I do it!:)

Most of the gripes about pugs are for gold and above. In bronze, it doesn't matter whether you screw up or not. Its the beginner level for you to get better weapons and learn more about the mechanics of the game. For silver, i think a majority of posters on BSN can solo it below 25 mins so it isn't that irritating.

However for gold and above, people who bleed out everytime, who decide to go die far away from a hack circle objective are incredibly irritating. Most of the other objectives can be soloed (though irritating) but a hack circle's hack rate depends on how many players are in the circle. Even the best players will be fuc*ed over if they have to solo a hack circle on a full 4 man team who bleeds out 10 seconds into the wave.

If you get into the wrong difficulty level, there's 2 ways to do it. If you're using the juggernaut and don't fall down more than once a wave, you're fine and doing something by simply staying alive. If you're dropping like no tomorrow on any class, exit the game and search again. You don't lose much and your vacated place will be filled by someone else most times.

When in the lobby note the difficulty. If dropped mid game, bring up the score board and look at the difficulty. If you stay, be ready to use your medigel (and to a much lesser extent, rockets) as needed. Saving your medigel on early waves is fine but never save your medigel and bleed out/stomped on an objective wave.

Do not be miserly. Buy recruit packs and jumbo equipment packs (scroll down in the store) and get your available medigel (and rockets. also ops packs is good to help you save medigel) to be at your medigel cap at the very least. Succeeding on silver extraction nets you a JEP replenishing what you used + you get equipment like one use ammo, shield cells, cyclonic mods, weapons amps, etc. These help your success chances in the next game and over time, with more extractions, you will have more equipment than you can use. A gold extraction not only gets you a JEP, it gets you nearly a spectre pack as well if you get the extraction bonus and did objectives fast. A platinum extaction nets you a JEP + a full premium spectre pack. Being miserly on using equipment, medigel, rockets not only costs your team mates credits but wastes your own time spent fighting through waves 7,8,9

I mostly play PUG's and I play pretty much every evening for an hour or two. Maybe you played with me as I'm sure we were one of the only gold public games at the time as there was a player who quit our lobby four times (impatience, due to us taking our time to pack consumables etc) but he/she kept getting sent straight back to our game lol!
