So would you like to see Carver or Bethany again in DA3 and why? (well if they survived in DA2 and choices you made)

For me I will like to see Grey Warden Carver because he actually grows up from his spoiled whiny atttittude he has in the beginning to actual person I no longer hate. Plus Carver was always more interesting than Bethany because his personality was as bland as Bethany.

Maybe as an appropriate cameo. Say, Bethany or Carver show up in a mission involving the Grey Wardens or hanging around the Mage or Templar bases.

I actually liked Bethany more than Carver( probably her combat dialog). Aside from that, I wouldn't mind seeing them again, and I don't think they stayed with Hawke like the other companions did for a time after the end of the game.

edit: typo

Yep. Something more than a cameo, but less than a companion. NPC, quest giver, lieutenant in some upcoming battle.

I'd like it if they didn't show up.

I'm pretty sure everyone likes Bethany more than Carver. Or dislikes Carver more than Bethany.
Too bad we couldn't actually choose between them.

Strangely, I do agree with OP that seeing Carver again could have more potential though.

A cameo perhaps or something that acknowledge their existance but nothing more than that.

On a personal level, Bethany is more agreeable, but as characters, I actually prefer Carver immensely.

Bethany is timid and bland and just too damn nice, even as a Grey Warden. She's boring, her arc is boring.

The friction between Carver and Hawke is a great source of dramatic tension, especially if he joins the Templars. As someone who's familiar with sibling rivalry, I find it very relatable and easy to sympathise with.

Of the two if it were possible it would be Bethany, but l'd go with a third way and have Charade instead.

I wouldn't mind seeing Bethany again. I never had Carver as my sibling after the Deep Roads (I wasn't digging a mage hawke) so can't really comment, but I liked Bethany quite a bit.

Nah, Carver still sucks in DA2. There's no difference at all whether you treat him like crap or try to befriend him. He'll always end up helping you in the end, even if you choose to side with the mages and actively taunt him at that point.

I rather they not be in the game, for if its just a cameo you will have the BSN raging about how its an insult that they be reduced to a cameo, but if its anything else I think they would add both and it would lead to a character that feels incomplete like Kaiden and Ashely in Mass Effect 3.

If they did they'd need an option for versions where they both died

I also quite like Carver. Don't care if i'm in the minority. Never done a full playthrough with Bethany though. DA2 is way too much of a grind for me, never get past the first act. I wouldn't mind them turning up as long as it fits in with what were doing. No cameo is better than pointless cameo's. There's no way in hell I want them back as companions though. They'd get the Ash and Kaidan treatment. Their characters were thin as a twig in ME3.

@Saurez: That's the same with Bethany though right?

Because despite everything, he still loves his sibling.

So what if his personal arc is linear? So is Bethany's. So is every party member's, assuming you follow each one to its ultimate conclusion.

Charade Amell represents that option.

What Bioware should do if save imports don't work is that whenever you start a new game you get a questioner for both DA and DA 2 and basically fill them with all the choices you made in both games and who your warden was and who your Hawks was. Plus all the choices you made in each game.

As much as I like Carver, it just seems very unlikely to dedicate a lot of contents for the sibling character that can either die at the beginning/ die during the expedition/ In Bethany's case, kill by Meredith/become Grey Warden/ become templar/ become circle mage. I wouldn't mind a brief cameo, but I would rather for them to dedicate the resources for other contents.

Although if I have to pick, I would pick Carver anyday. Bethany does nothing but agreeing with you.

This. Carver was annoying as hell and Bethany had the personality of a wood plank. They were my least favorite companions in DA2 and without Hawke around I no reason to ever have to deal with them again.

I see people mention a wish for Charade quite a lot, I don't quite understand what they see in her?

The potential to build something new and keep a link to lé Amell?
