Knight of Dane: I guess so. I guess I'd rather they build something new with entirely new characters. I'm in the camp of "I would prefer the new party roster to be ninety - one hundred percent new characters", really.

And I feel like a lot of spotlight has been put on one family already. Thedas is a big place.

I've always said that I prefer a new roster entirely, but if anyone was to return I would prefer it to be Carver and Bethany simply for the replayability.

Pointless cameo at best if those two show up.

If there was a good plot-related reasons for them to show up, sure. As a wink and nod to longtime fans of the series just for the sake of having a cameo, not so much...

No, not really, unless it was absolutely relevant, which I can see happening if we have Grey Warden interaction or because of their mage/Templar associations. I don't know if I'd want them with any kind of major role, though. (Even if I did love Carver to pieces.)

I always want a chance to romance Bethany lol Doubt that would ever happened though. But maybe they will come back as imported save quest related npc.

A satisfying cameo for these two is basically all I really ask of DA3.

I'd love, love to see Carver again, but only if Lukas is writing him.

Unfortunely for you Bethany has her eyes on Sebastian.

As characters they are simply too unremarkable to go to the effort of including them given the 5 or 6 possible permutations. It would be a complete waste of effort.

It'd be interesting to see if all that flirting between Bethany and Sebastian went anywhere and she ended up Princess of Starkhaven or something.

As for appearances, I wouldn't expect anything beyond a single scene or other characters mentioning them. They just die too easily for too much investment in them.

The main thing that Carver and Bethany had going for them, was that they were brother/sister to the PC. They were your family and that coloured your interaction with them. If they appear in a game with a different PC they loose that hook.

So no, I don't want to see them in DA3.

I would like to see Carver, most people would say he's annoying but I found the story to be much more fun when I got to tell him to shut up all the time. I also really enjoyed the rivalry with him it was really intense especially if he joins the templars. And at the and of the game it was great seeing him become a bit frighten when he thought you and him was going to have fight each other. After my first playthrough with carver, listening to that conversation when you side with the mages and he's a templar I thought you'd be able to kill him. But you can't, and I was a bit disappointed. Overall the story with Carver was nice and he began to grow on me more and more after every new playthrough.

Since I play a mage for my main continuity in DA2, it will sadly be Warden Carver.

I wouldn't mind seeing the siblings. Well, Carver mostly. Bethany in almost my play-through died in the Deep Roads(purposely).
Either can't have too much content since it's possible that they can die I suppose...

I thought Bethany was the most beautiful looking character that Bioware has created since Bastila Shan in the original Kotor. I was really bummed that she was Hawk's sibling and thus not romanceable.

I don't want to see her in DA3 though. Honestly I would prefer they not bring back characters and decisions made in previous games. It causes too many problems for the developers and the product suffers as a result. Give us a new story with new characters with each sequel, IMO.

Well DA2 purpose was to be the prequel to DA3 storyline. I still don't consider DA2 as DA2 since it doesn't really serve as the true sequel to DAO but a prequel to the events of DA3.

Even the DLC Mark of the Assassin foreshadows one of the conflict the Inquisitor will have to setting in DA3.

Interesting question, which to some level will depend on our choices in DA2. I didn't play a mage, so that leaves Bethany, whom I would like to see again. She was a pleasant, interesting character.

But.... (which brings to question how the import system will work)

I had a playthrough where I didn't take her into into the Deep Roads, and when I returned she was forced into the Circle of Mages, personally, my favorite, because after a time of adjustment, she seems to be genuinely happy working with the mage children.

But... I also have a play-through where I took her into the Deep Raods, and she got the wasting disease, and she became a Grey Warden (to save her life), also an interesting choice that I wouldn't mind seeing advanced.

I would like to see her appear again, and would also like to see how she has progressed, either as a Circle Mage (taking an active part in the mage rebellion) or as a Grey Warden.

Maker helps us with that lol A naive, innocent mage, and a prince - chantry brother. They would spent the rest of their lives holding hands and passing notes, a pure love with Maker's blessing xD Honestly, I prefer a dark - light relationship for characters. Sebastian would go with a rebelious girl, or Bethany with a dark, sinner type of guy. That kind of relationships have lot of potential, with conflicts between personalities, each of them can learn from the others, change, and grow as persons. Good guy + good girl or Bad guy + bad girl, relationships like that are kinda boring imo.

Anyhow, if they plan to bring characters from previous games to the next as companions and love interest (like they did to Anders and Merrill), my vote would go for Bethany xD

Even though Carver was acting like an idiot, he was still my little brother, so when the b/witch wanted to kill him, I killed her without any attempts of negotiation. In the end I actually started to like him.

So... I really want to see Carver as a Knight-Commander! Or Knight-Captain at least. B)
Why? 'Cause it would be fun.

I like them both and I would like to see Carver (Bethany not so much) again, since he's a pretty interesting character.
But since you only ever get one of the siblings and both of them can die and there are three paths for them to take (Templar/Circle and Grey Warden) which are all different enough that it would be an awful lot to implement these three paths and the resulting personality of the twins for only a small percentage of the players for each that I doubt they'll do it.
A cameo would be nice though.

I actually liked Bethany more than Carver( probably her combat dialog). Aside from that, I wouldn't mind seeing them again, and I don't think they stayed with Hawke like the other companions did for a time after the end of the game.

edit: typo

I'm pretty sure everyone likes Bethany more than Carver. Or dislikes Carver more than Bethany.
Too bad we couldn't actually choose between them.

Strangely, I do agree with OP that seeing Carver again could have more potential though.

I actually ended up liking Carver more than Bethany in the end. Sure, Carver is a whiny little pansy in my mage campaign, but Bethany... Jeez I just want to know what her major malfunction is. She has NO backbone what-so-ever. I mean everytime you talk to her, she's all about the Maker and his plans for her , which is cool but the more she talks about it, the more I feel she has this immeasrable amount of self-doubt Considering she never tlks about controlling her own life. I made her join the Wardens when I played a rogue becuase I thought she would come back later and have gained some self-convidence. Imagine my surprise when she comes back and she has the exact same attitude... well not completely, but enough to make me wonder, "WTF?" At least when Carver joined the Wardens (or even the Templars), the little punk showed signs of growing the f*** up....<_<

Anyway, I also hope that Carver or Bethany appears in the next game... But I wouldn't really mind if they didn't.:innocent:
