And I don't want to have the inevitable comparisons between the DA2 versions and the DA3, how they were changed or 'ruined" or whatever.

So no, see no place for them in DAI. As stated above their role was very minor; only related to Hawke and no influence on the whole picture.

They would make no sense without Hawke so no, I don't want to see them.

Merill's role was minor? If you've done her quests, I don't think so. What did Bethany and Carver ever do? One died and the other joined the templars. Okay, what else? Because I can't think of any other significant thing they've done.Bonte15 wrote...
Everyone keep saying their roles was minor, but looking back on Merrill, her role was smaller than theirs. Plus on Mass Effect Tali and Garrus can die and still be full companions in the last one. And they both was minor in DA2 maybe for a reason, so maybe you can get to know them better as a Protagonist that is not related to them, (hence DA:I protagonist).

In DAO, Merrill's role was minor and she became a full major character in Da2, and yea your right, they didn't get to prove theirselves, but DA:I is a whole new game. <_<Shasow wrote...

That is exactly the reason I would like to see Carver again. He did a lot of growing up during the course of DA2, and I would love to meet him as an adult, independent from his brother or sister. I doubt I'll get my wish, for a number of reasons.BombThatDeadGuy wrote...
It would be better if we didn't see these any of the Hawke siblings or his cousin for that matter unless we went back to play as Hawke which is not likely for a long time if ever.

You still might be able to see Carver in DA3 and if he does show up then with luck his role is done well and was worth putting in the game. I'm not the biggest fan of both the siblings but it won't really ruin the game if they showed up. That said don't see them having a huge role in the game like being a companion, I see a cameo at best out of the siblings.

I really like both Bethany and Carver, so I am hoping to see much more of them in DA3.

Not gonna happen. One's definitely dead and the other could be dead. Way too many people would complain about ruining head cannon.
Isn't this similar to the VS or suicide mission deaths? It worked there, could work here.
