I WISH someone would call me out on it when I do it, and I do it between every round to gauge how each other player is doing. It's an imperfect method of doing so, but it's the only available, so, you know.

I habitually check it between the waves.

I check it between waves usually. It's mostly about checking my performance but if I notice someone is lacking way behind it helps me triage who to revive in later waves if multiple squadmates go down.

I'll check after the third round. In Gold PUGs, mostly to see who is first or second and make sure if I see that player go down that I do CPR quickly. Its not cool when your backup goes down and the lower players can't carry.

That I do, and I have gotten into a rather akward game afterwards.

I was ina game with 2 Italians, and they where friends. One of them was already down and out, and his friend goes down and in the same instance another player goes down. That other player was really helping and killing, so I decide to run to that player and on my way I rush by the Italian who I did not revive, he was last on the score board and way over his head in Silver.

It was against the collectors on Hydra, so I really wanted that other player alive and kicking. And so his friend started yelling "Hey Legacy....Why you not help my friend!, HELP MY FRIEND!" ... So I replied "Your friend not good player, other player good player..."

Next wave they both started to rant on the mic and calling me names... I recal one of the really wanted to have sex with my mother... So after they died both in the next wave I did not revive them and made them watch me chase the last enemie of the wave.... And that for the next waves... Then after quite some time and enough of soling I decided to commit suicide and quite the game all together.

I check every wave to see how far I'm trailing behind in fourth place . Also to see if anyone has quit the match

a split second before i nuke a spawn.
and immediately afterwards.
i will then proceed to run and stand in front of whoever's ahead of or behind me on the board, stop, and check it again.

I just stop and look between waves to check which wave we're on. I don't try to hide it and only care about my actual score if we have had to let a random or two into a group lobby to fill it. If they get above me I feel I'm letting the group down. Unless they are beating all the group members in the lobby. Then I just appreciate the easier credits.

I usually check the scoreboard once per game, in about Wave 6.  I check between waves, and I don't see the point of trying to hide it.

I don't really care whether I'm 1st or last, I just want to get an idea of what I can expect in the later/harder waves.  If I'm 3rd or 4th, I can be pretty sure the entire game is going to be a breeze.  If I'm 1st, then I know I should play a little more carefully and use consumables more liberally.  And I also want to get an idea whether there's anyone that I shouldn't bother going out of my way to revive (or anyone I should).

Why hide it?

Every time I bring up the scoreboard I yell "WITH THE SCORE MAXIMIZING BUILD!"

I don't try to hide it when I do things like that because there is nothing embarrassing about it to begin with.

If you're worried about what people will think if they see you checking your score in game, you may need to re-check your priorities.

Why would I conceal checking the board? This bothers people?

This. I'm also curious as to where this "if someone is not moving then they're looking at the scoreboard" idea comes from. Am I supposed to run around in circles between waves?

I used to check it all the time after each wave (for shame). Now I only check it in the beginning to see who we are facing and if I forget which wave we are on.

Heavy melee or dodge when PUGing, somehow seems impolite to compare scores with randoms.

With friends I don't hide it.

The scoreboard is there to be checked with a bit of e-peen stroking, i usually check it for what round it is or at the end of every wave to see how bad the other players are (this is xbox, PUGs on here are rarely any good).

Checking score when rolling? What?! I roll in between waves because I get to see my character pause briefly and sometimes the poses look cool.

If you're gonna check, just check. Why hide it?

For whatever reason, a small minority of players got it in their heads that this game shouldn't be competetive and then crammed this reasononing down people's throats, making them feel guilty for "score in a co-op game." You see a lot of the same crap where (a small group of Pee Sea) guys cram "infiltrators are broken don't use them" and "the reegar is a noob gun and you should feel bad for using it" or the "crutchharrier"

Just a bunch of people moralizing a video game that hardly has transferable values to the real world

Edit: Doesn't help when you also have people who, at any given opportunity will do whatever they can to "win" by selfishly rocketing spawns (for no reason other than to control the game). Honestly, who cares. So long as we have fun and extract.

PS. i enjoyed the game where we got the collectors back Image IPB kill us on wave 10 will you???

not today ripper... not today
