you believe that both will go on the offensive?

This is just my opinion but where things are I get the feeling that both Gaspard and Celene with be on the defensive. Both know that Briala has control on the Eluvians, and that she can now attack from just about anywhere in the Empire. Thats a scary thought in my opinion.

While Celene does promise aid to the Divine if she can reassure the Nobles that she has the Mage/Templar problem under control. Justinia will only help Celene if the Elves of Halamshiral are put down. I can't say that Justinia meant for Celene to butcher the Elves, but at the same time I'm guessing that she may have expected that to be the result.

Briala mentioned using the Eluvians to feed the hungry, and warn populations about impending threats, so I'm not so certain she will attack the forces of Celene or Gaspard.

Which makes me glad that the Inquisitor isn't going to be a "puppet of the church" and that the Inquisition will be established "in opposition" to the Chantry. I'm really not inclined to work with Divine Justinia V in my first run.

I agree Lob. I personally am glad that we are a independent organization unbound to the Chantry.

However, I am curious to see how we will interact with Justinia (should she be alive) and those who are part of the Chantry as a whole.

1. Yes I do, in fact:

The masked empire spoiler

Spoiler

2. Lobsel answered this better than I could.

3. Of course. True or not, everyone in Orlais knew there was only one thing the empress could do after that. It was a textbook case of forcing someone's hand. Noone wanted the elves dead. They were just unlucky enough to end up as pawns on the chesstable of Orlais.

Wouldn't that depend what Justinia V has to offer you? If she offers you her support in establishing the Dales (one where she has no influence unless invited later) would you still refuse?

No, I don't expect that to happen either. ;) It's a hypothetical question.

Me too. I've wanted to meet Justinia ingame for a very long time.

I never heard it would be. Could be, yes. Would be, no.

Go to Dragon Age . com. There's a little video near the top of the page. The devs specifically say that you start the Inquisition in opposition to the Chantry.

Hypothetically, I'm willing to amend that position if the situation comes up. If Justinia offers something beneficial (like your suggestion), or a public apology over what happened to the original Dales and an amendment to their historical accounts, I'd consider it. Otherwise, I don't see myself being inclined to work with her.

I don't see it. I clicked the video and they never mention anything about who you are for or against besides the Veil Tear.

Why should she apologize for the Dales attacking Orlais? I know you think the Chantry dealt the first blow, but regardless Orlais itself did not and only retaliated.

There are two historical accounts to the inception of the war, and I've always addressed the player isn't in a position to know the truth, but I was addressing the hypothetical of why my elven Inquisitor might work with Justinia (in my first run).

Now im even more convinced that she is an agent of chaos i mean not enough that she provoked both templars and mages then when situation was close stability (when lambert caputred mages) she let mages escape so mages and templars had war then she wanted Celene to provoke elves slaughtering them so we could have elven rebelion without peacefull possibility at least if understand correctlyNo way that she is so incompetent and if she is in my pt anyway i will chop her on half because she is too dangerous to live.

I know, but in the Dalish version it is the Chantry that invades with the Templars. Orlais was not involved until after the Red Crossing incident.

I was talking about Sir JK's hypothetical about incentives to work with Justinia, not Celene.

I know. I was just saying it would need to have Justinia apologize for the Chantry's actions, not Orlais'.

Ah no, that was Beatrix III. She died of old age in 9:35 I think. Only Faith was Justinia V, and that was more speculation of other people than an actual threat.

I'm going to play Devil's Advocate here.

What exactly has Justinia V done that makes you feel like she deserves to blow up in just spectacular fashion that Elthina did?

That's correct. In A Look Inside Dragon Age, Laidlaw said we would be standing in "opposition to the Chantry will", while Mark Darrah said, "In the chaos surrounding the beginning of the game, you're reforming the Inquisition, not as part of the Church, not a part of the Chantry, you actually stand apart from it, in fact, based on these events, actually in opposition to it."

The apparent neutrality of the Inquisition likely means that the player will determine whether or not Divine Justinia V and the Chantry of Andraste are allies, rather than having it dictated to the player.
