I would still wait for more information before we decide if Justinia is dead or not. If she does die then the Chantry will likely die with her to some extent.

Justinia is HOT.
I want her for a casual hookup who we can abandon afterwards before destroying the Chantry once and for all before establishing a Templar kingdom.
As a mage player I think shes also hotThe only way to resolve this war between the Templars/Seekers and the Mages is if I get to second base with Divine Justinia. It's the only way to stop the war.
Make love not war... I want to romanace with this woman.
Wait wait how do you know that she is hot we don't even see her except leliana song and there her age was some around 30 and that was 12-13 years ago.
She gotten older since then, but still. Shes hot

I didn't think the leak explicitly said she dies. It says the chantry leadership is decimated, but that could be the grand cleric getting killed while she escapes or something.
You make a good point, it would not be the first time she escaped danger. However, it always been due to one of her subordinates saving her.

I would recommend that you read Asunder, its the only other piece of DA material that gives you a direct look at the Divine. The other being Leliana's song, which IMHO gives the impression that she is hiding something big, and that it has to do with the documents that Marjolaine stole from her.

I haven't played DA: Orgins either so I don't know about this Leliana's song. I'm still waiting for the game to arrive in the mail thought. I'm somewhat of a novice in the world of Dragon Age. I did get the calling book (I hope to learn about the history of the Grey Wardens and King Maric), but I realize that it wasn't the begining of the story, and so I've purchased The Stolen Throne (I'm curious about young Maric Theirin) and Asunder off of amazon.
From your description... it seems like this Divine is quite the naughty one.
Base on the lore: http://dragonage.wik...vine_Justinia_V
Formerly the Revered Mother Dorothea of Orlais, Divine Justinia V rose to power after the death of Divine Beatrix III in the year 9:34 of the Dragon Age. Little is known of Dorothea's background before she joined the Chantry as an initiate. Within the Grand Cathedral, rivals suggest that her reticence in discussing her past means she's hiding something; few of her flock, however, can imagine her as anyone other than a gentle mother of obvious faith.
When Beatrix III was felled by a massive stroke, she survived just long enough to put forth Dorothea's name as a candidate for her replacement. Grand Clerics from throughout Thedas flocked to Orlais for the Grand Consensus, a private meeting between the heads of all Chantries to select the next Divine.
Though ritual demanded the decision be unanimous, servants attending the Consensus whispered of heated debate over Dorothea's suitability. Her "worldly" background and demonstrated forgiveness for sinners were held against her; utimately, however, the will of Beatrix III prevailed, and Dorothea began her reign as Justinia V.
Without writing up a complete essay I can only express my speculations on the matter. I believe that this Dorothea (Most likley a fake name) now known as Divine Justinia V to be one of the most powerful mages who not only mastered the ability to use Blood magic , but also mastered the ability to use hypnosis/illusionary and mind controling form of magic. Perhabs she caused Beatrix III to have a massive stroke (Blood magic - Hemorrhage), and forced her , as she was dying, through hypnosis magic to put forth her name as the next successor.
I think this Dorothea is slowly turning the White Chantry into to Black Chantry where mages return to power. The return of the Tevinter Imperium.

A few months ago someone else on the boards had a similar theory to yours.
Adding my two cents to this theory I get the feeling that Justinia would fit more into a rogue class called Shadow
Shadow:
There is no order or organization of shadows--they are self-taught elite rogues, masters of concealment and ambush. They strike from darkness, employing personal decoys and hallucinogenic poisons to distract enemies before sliding a dagger between their ribs.
If she wanted the power Divines are believed to have, I could see her using a Blood Mage to persuade Beatrix. However, at the same time, Shadows have the skill to create hallucinogenic poisons, which could also be an effective way of controlling Beatrix, and putting her name forward.

I rly doubt that she is a mage otherwise she could take back papers that marjolene took on her own if she had dark past i can bet that was rogue and perhaps bard (she could seduce beatrix) due that we hear in asunder that she is master of the game but that may be rumor because as we seen she is a fool. About her past that may be even just rumors well that is orlais place where others will destroy you and your reputation , even i heard in witch hunt as rumors that my warden had fun with pirate (isabela) and nug you get that no matter what.
But i still don't trust her at best she is incompetent at worst is like you said.<_<

IMHO this could be what motivated both Justinia and Leliana to join the Chantry. After a life of contributing nothing to the though the Game. However, at the some time, I have the impression that this same desire is what caused them to loss the trust of all those factions connected to the Chantry.
Any thoughts?

When it comes to The Game of Intrigue, I don't think anyone ever truly masters it. Sister Nightingale in the WoT book wrote about how Bards playing the Game contribute nothing of real worth in the end. Learning the hard way that its all an illusion, and those you thought to be your friends will betray you.

Sister Nightingale is naive fool cute but still foolish warden can lie her cheapest lie "i don't sleep with her " and she belives ,she was always tool type for me she exchanged one illusion for another and funny part she ends there where she started as assassin and bard just for another master.

The irony here, makes me think about some of the banter from DAO where see claims she is no longer that person. Even though she is my male HN main romance, he is not a chantry supporter. Often telling not to bring the Maker into the relationship. if you harden her, she seems to be less offended, when you call her out.
When Inquisition does come out, I would love to see both her and the Divine find the Warden, but told that its not his fight.

Well in my playthrough it was far more complicated my character was mage pro-mage chantry hater and i left her unhardened i played as good character (she was only good li for male) so i don't want turn her into bi*** and don't want her end in way she started sadly she ends that way in da 2 and they are stil in relationship surprisingly.
I'm curious whether leliana is dorothea reflection like she was to marjolene and if they are in relationship that would make sense.

Justinia is not about totally freeing the mages but given them enough concessions to keep them on side. She acknowledges that there are time when they need mages, whether the Templars like to admit it or not. The Qunari might well have overrun the whole of Thedas without the assistance of mages. Mages have played a major part in holding back the darkspawn in successive Blights. One of the things that most repels people about the Circle is the idea of the Tranquil and what it means for the mage whether they have undergone the ceremony voluntarily or not. It is horrific and it might well be that Justinia genuinely wishes to find a way to make it obsolete.
I wouldn't read too much into her threatened exalted march. To start with that is exactly what it was - a threat in order to try and bring people back into line. Even without the Chantry, Orlais would never have allowed Kirkwall to be taken over by mages, particularly as it seemed likely that Tevinter lay behind at least some of the mage activity going on there. Kirkwall was strategically important to the whole of southern Thedas. Neither Qunari, nor the Magisters could be allowed to control it. So whether Justinia was in favour of it or not, it would have to be retaken if it had fallen. However, Orlais would love the excuse of invading it on the back of an exalted march, just as it took over the strategically important Dales from the elves on the back of an exalted march. So Celene would have brought a great deal of political pressure on the Divine to allow it. And the Chantry relies on Orlais as its main powerbase to maintain its hold throughout a wider area. It is probably no accident that the mage rebellion came to a head just as Orlais was disintegrating into civil war, so only the Templars and not the additional power of the Orlesian army could be brought to bear on the rebels. That is my reading of the situation anyway.

You make some good points.
However, I believe that the Civil war and the M/T war are not as connected as you may think. There is a chance that this has been brewing since Celene came into power.
Even though Justinia does appear to what a change for the betterment of the Chantry. She lost a considerable amount of influence over the Mages when she chose Wynne, over the Grand Enchanter that the Mages themselves chose.
As Sun Tzu says
"There are five fundamental factors for success in war – Weather,
terrain, leadership, military doctrine and most importantly – moral
influence."
Unfortunately for Justinia, moral influence was something that she lacked, and it cost her.

Any info on the Chantry or the Divine from this new patch of info?
Only new thing is that the Inquisition is somewhat opposed to the Chantry, but it seems more of a "the Chantry doesn't want you to dig in their dirty secrets" sort of thing.
Should be interesting with Cassandra being a confirmed companion now and she has been traveling with Varric since DAII ending (they sound like the 1st real companions that join the PC too). Seems like she's might not even be with the Chantry anymore (well, with any of the splinters).
