Why does anyone here actually care about score? We all know it's all about the credits and maxing out the manifest, NOTHING ELSE.

Because people who can't contribute by killing stuff makes the game unnessessarily difficult for me.

Because..human nature? Otherwise no score would exist in a game. Only games that try to be "alternative" or "refreshing" etc ever refuse to include traditional scoring.

Oh, sure, if someone is leeching or just not doing anything good it's bad, but I don't understand the fixation on high score.
What does it matter? You're already playing a level 20 character, or even if you're not, XP still doesn't matter.
All that matters in ME3 MP until you max out your manifest is playing the highest difficulty game you can, do the objective waves as fast as possible, and extract alive.
That's it.

Because if you have no score at all (accepting some support classes don't score as well as the best DPS) you were a hindrance to your team!

I like to pull my weight. But I'm not losing any sleep over it even if I end up dead-last. Just tells me that there's probably something I could do better next time (or I was just unlucky).

So i guess all that matters is using the Hurricane/Acolyte GI with Armored compartments V and playing Cerb/Glacier/Plat all day err day. Good to know.

I like to know what score I'm clocking up relative to the kind of score I get normally ... if I'm getting 100k + with a kit (on gold) I know I'm not doing it too wrong. If it's a solid team then odds are we'll clear the game with nobody having higher than about 90k (and nobody less than about 70k)... it's nice to see these things.

... and if it's a PuG I know who should probably quit/get kicked once we're back to the lobby (anyone with 30k or less).

No, I am not even going to TRY thinking about what you just said. I'd just short circuit myself trying to get around what you meant.

I use scoring ( imperfect as it is ) to evaluate the effectiveness of the various kits/combinations that I am working on. That is how I know explosive ammo is worthless on gold, for example - change ap 3 ammo for explosive rounds 3 and you can tell its worthless by looking at how your kit does not score as well.

It's also how I decide which kits to bring to platinum. Since I don't nuke spawns, my score is usually indicative of the strength of that particular kit. The only non-high-scoring kit I'll take to platinum is the jug.

^these types are also known as deadweight.

Deadweight should keep this in mind. Want to get credits for your manifest, then help out or get kicked after 1 game and spend more time wasted on trying to find people to carry you

well unless you're an infiltrator waiting with your Widow X cloaked until the boss units are down to a couple bars of health/armour then it's all the same to me

What? It's all about maxing out manifest?

That's so wrong. The main reason you should be playing is for fun.
If you don't think it's fun, then there's no point in playing it in the first place.

Competing score with friends can at least add some spice in fun, but playing it just for the sake of maxing out manifest sounds like a lot of waste of time. You'll stop playing it after maxing it out anyway.

I've never played games just to unlock achievements, max out manifests, collect all the collectables, etc.

Score is very important for a multitude of reasons:
- I need some way to measure how effective my kit is overall.
- Additionally, I can tell if my teammates are falling way short of my expectations. If I check scoreboard around Wave 7 or so and see I have 50-60k over the rest of my team I start to wonder if they're just leeching

The issue is the scoring system is incomplete ofc. Doesn't grant points for healing. Awards points for killing things when the player is NOT in the Hack circle or escourt circle.  Wasn't implemented fully.

This is why I never understand why people like to have competitive duos and such. But I digress. Just explaining my position on this matter. Yes score does matter. But it doesnt matter if you took the top spot because-

A good team should have an even distribution. You accomplish this goal by keeping the team together and keep them alive

If you are playing to max your Manifest, you are a lost cause.
It`s all about enjoying the process and max manifest only if you enjoy the process enough.

Because some people tie their worth as a player to having the top score at *all* times. My friend Alex will constantly check his score during every wave (Bronze to Platinum) to see if he's at the top of the board or not and it drives me *nuts* when he does.
