Do people find this to be positive, or more annoying than beneficial?

Also, Shield Boost spam is annoying, as you could be locking out your teammates ability to shoot/use powers. Yes, using Heavy Melee fixes that, but in the midst of a firefight that can often be fatal.
So use Shield Boost when needed, but don't spam it.

Question: Do you have the Engineer? Use that instead, that way you can provide Proxy and Recon Mine debuffs.

was in a glorified plat duo that featured a spammer.
got glitched every other Boost.
i don't mind the sentiment, but just pace yourselves spammers please. having to do a heavy melee while trying to dodge overzealous phantoms...can be a bit taxing.

Bad. It's buggy so you may end up getting your teammates killed by locking up their weapons and powers. Time spent shield boosting is also time spent not killing things so you could potentially be taking 2 or more people out of the game. Shield boost when it makes sense. When you here 'shields down' or see lots of incoming enemy fire, or during a hack/escort.

My take on SB is do it when you need it and if you are with team mates when you hear "Shields Down", "I'm Hit" or similar. Or during Objectives like Escort/Hack. Otherwise get killing.

The first time you bug out someone's weapon, you lose alot of good will that you built up to your character from the rest of the team.... even if you were only shield boosting when necessary.Heldarion wrote...

Mostly this. Have to keep shooting between any shield boost or other action, otherwise you're dead weight.
I myself do it very frequently to maintain my own survivability and at the very least, give teammates damage reduction for a brief duration.

Heavy melee to "fix" it is not a good thing if you are in the middle of a fight.

I've been under the assumption that I should be able to freely boost melee players and players using weapons that you don't really reload (PPR, etc).
Shield boost spam can provide a near constant DR, but I may lock someone out 1 to 5 times in a match. To me the good outweighs the bad although it seems replies don't agree.

It's better if you use it when you know they're getting shot.
(you don't really need to follow around your teammates all the time, since volus is not just a support kit)
But, escort your buddy who's carrying a pizza unless that person is using that pizza run glitch.
It'll just distract him/her if you're sprinting side by side with a pizza runner.
Shield boost helps a lot during other objective waves too.

I don't mean to brag, but sometimes I get my 20 kneecaps medal before I get my 25 kills medal.

I now only shield boost if I need it or I hear a teammate's character indicate their shields are down. And even then, I still feel horrible if I see them have to heavy melee afterwards. I will literally come on mic and apologize. But... but... your character said his shields were down. I was only trying to help. FORGIVE MEEE!!!!

Case in point: I had a very well-meaning Volus in a PUG recently. After the first few waves, I was leading the scoreboard and suddenly there's the Volus following me around like a little puppy, shield boosting every single moment he came off a cooldown. I appreciated what he was trying to do -- he was trying to make sure the lead killer in that room would never go down. But I was a Salarian Infiltrator. I had tactical cloak. I could easily make sure I could evade the enemy and not be killed. His constant shield boost spamming kept locking me out of firing my Black Widow what felt like every 3rd or 4th shot I'd attempt. Nothing more frustrating than quick-scoping an enemy and have nothing happen when you hit the trigger. Over. And. Over. Again.
My fault for not having my mic on that match, but I literally wanted to beg him to go away. Go shield boost the crazy Krogan who's doing nothing but meleeing the enemy. He might need the shield boost and he's heavy meleeing non-stop anyway, so no harm on him. But don't dog the sniper. Don't. Dooooooon't. Volus plz.
