I thought I would share my new go-to kit and build with some notes. A little long so I tried to avoid wall of text. Comments and suggestions certainly are welcome and understand, many opinion only comments are included.
Preamble:
I am a casual-ish xbox player who only plays biotics. Tech kits bore me. Prior, my go-to's were the Fury. DA, KV, BV, KS. AS, DV. I include xbox since without a mouse, the play can be different. I also do not play Plat matches. This is not to be designed as a "this is the best" kit post but I thought I would share what is now the only kit I play anymore. This is also my first topic of this kind so I apologize for any mistakes as it is based off of my own play.
Build:
http://narida.pytalh...yer/RRAOM//////
6/6/0/6/6
Build notes:
Biotic charge: Standard for vanguards
Phase Disrupt: I chose radius for more AoE and in case I am off-host, Efficient for 5 Phase shots per shield, Shield/Barrier damage since I run with a buddy who takes the armor. Really, either or is fine depending on weapon choice and manifest.
N7 Slayer: I went B, A, A since I am terrible at headshots, and wanted the capacity numbers to play with multiple weapon load outs. This could be tweaked if you know what weapon(s) you know you want.
Fitness: This is a bit different with a Melee, Shield Recharge, Melee Synergy. This is based on the shield gate, and no need for the extra shield/health. The Shield recharge over the Heavy Melee due to a lack of heavy melee use and to help refresh the shields for Phases. The Melee Synergy is more for the hard melee bonus rather than heavy melee. More below.
Weapon: Really anything you like. Acolyte is always an option, but there are many. Melee mod is important but not crucial. I have run with Falcon, Scorpion, Hurricane, Talon, Various shotties. Recharge speed is not crucial, but I prefer 150% and above for the fdaster charges when needed.
Gear: I run Martial Biotics. But there is also some flexibility here.
General Play Notes:
I love this kit and build because most other of the biotics have weaknesses based on the enemy you are working around. I prefer to be mobile over taking cover and throwing bombs and this kit doesnt care what you are fighting much. Like with the Fury, Geth can be a pain, etc. You get the mobility and the ports and this build allows for many options.
Phase Disrupt is your bread and butter. It is AoE, instant from close or across the map, and staggers. It is great from a distance or close and very easy to aim. Coupled with charge, you can get many shots, or 5 shots recharge and run away. Or 5 shots, charge, up to 5 more, port away, or... MANY options. Learn to live in your shield gate. This is crucial.
Light Melee, no Heavy. Heavy melee is dangerous in gold. Tracking is so-so, no invincibility, and slow to recover. I personally avoid this unless I am using it to port like Fury's Heavy melee or I want to be sexy. Even then it isnt as good as Fury's and I tend to avoid it. With light melee, you get solid tracking for the first 3 strikes and the invincibility frames. For me, 3 light melees is the magic the number. It will burn the time between charges while taking no damage and dishes out good damage. After 3, it seems you are more open for enemy staggers and tracking, requiring another action (usually charge or port out)
Falcon/Scorpion: With the damage available from light melee, I love these weapons on this kit. Both are AoE with Charge and Phase also AoE. It also adds the protection of another stagger as this is not a kit that can take punishment. These types of weapons can buy you that quick moment to port out or get a charge in.
Why no Biotic Slash: 1. It means I can max out the Fitness tree to make the melee damage of light melee very respectable. 2. While a good biotic power, arguably top tier, it is gimmicky and dumb. I think it is cheap and much prefer the fun of being able to melee. This was a fun-factor decision.
I wont include specific vs. particular mob types unless there is an inquiry. I will say that with this kit, I have answers for every mob type out there from mook to boss. This is perhaps the best part of this kit since with other biotics, there are mobs you have to avoid (like "meat" kits with with sync-killers, or weaker against Geth, etc.) and any map is fine.
As mentioned, this is also untested in Plat matches as I do not play Plats.
Hope that eye-bleed was minimal!
