At some point (in the books I think) it's mentioned that ghouls have a short lifespan. That the taint overtakes them and kills them. I don't believe they ever actually transform into a hurlock for example.
And I'm trying hard not to imagine what, exactly, happens in the broodmother transformation. Hespith is one of two points in the game that really got to me (the other being Shianni post-Vaughan).
