Luckily PS4 looks kickass and is definately the first console since PS1 that is on par with PC at launch. PS3 was horribly outdated when it launched, especially with regard to its memory. Also converting x86 based game engines (like UT3) to Cell architecture has been a pain in the ass. Fortunately PS4 throws away Cell and moves to x86 as well.
More info on Cell: http://en.wikipedia....ll_architecture
"The Cell architecture includes a memory coherence architecture that emphasizes efficiency/watt, prioritizes bandwidth over latency, and favors peak computational throughput over simplicity of program code. For these reasons, Cell is widely regarded as a challenging environment for software development"
So yeah, don't expect that some magical patch will fix everything. It won't happen.

I recently bought a PS3. Despite owning the Mass Effect trilogy on the 360 and PC, I decided to buy the series again (got the boxset) because I wanted a series I know I'd enjoy.
However the first game on the PS3 is a horrible experience. Loading times go on for such a period that using the quick travel terminals on the citadel is a waste of time.
I've never experienced a game stopping glitch on 360 or PC but have had it happen several times on the PS3. All too often I'm going into a conversation and there are no options presented on the dialogue wheel.
There is horrible lip synch because the dialogue starts playing before a cut-scene does.
I've not left the Citadel yet and I am dreading to think what the rest of the game is going to be like.
Honestly I expected the PS3 version of Mass Effect 1 to be the best of the three versions but boy have they messed it up.
The port is horrendous.
But you'll be happy to know that most of the problems are contained within the Citadel. Once outside the only thing you'll end up having to worry about is when the framerate starts getting worse. I have to shut the game down and restart it so clear (what I assume is) the cache when it does this or else risk a crash. And the two bugs in the final battle is just downright stupid.
