This is still working if you want 2 months for $2, used it a few days ago myself. Won't work until your account goes from Gold to "free" status on the xbox website though; read the thread.

Hey, SlimJim, you may not remember me but we played a few games together last April. It was the first time I had ever played a multiplayer game and you and Ashen Earth showed me the ropes including carrying me through my first Gold game. Watching you two play was sort of an intimidating introduction to MP, but I stuck with it. If you're going to be on later tonight (after 8 Central time) I'd love to catch another game with you. I wiped cause my back hurt too much carrying some scrubs that were already out of gel by then!
