Why do so many people have trouble spelling Leliana's name correctly?

Lilani
Lelini
Leilana

I know there are a lot of vowels in there but seriously? It's only seven letters. You can do it, I believe in you all.

I think it's because Leliana is sort of uncommon.

I most often see "Leilana" because it sort of sounds like that.

Well, to the OP... I think you shouldn't concern yourself, much less write a whole topic, on the matter that people mispell her name. You also need to quit talking down to them.

*Sigh*

I just find it amazing that you actually felt it was necessary to make a topic regarding something as stupid, and pointless, as this.

Leliana's name is a tad syllable intensive compared to most. My guess is many of these posters do not know how to spell her name and try to phonetically; which can be tricky with so many syllables. Especially if said hypothetical forumite also misinterpreted her name's pronunciation.

Are you kidding me? I'd say this is to blame:

ROFLMAO Mordy. That's a good one.

Though i think people just tend to not care. It's a fantasy character, you can call her whatever you want. Used to misspell/pronounce Sarevok's and Dynaheir's name just cause I though it sounded cooler that way.

The only thing I can't understand is how you can keep misspelling her name(and other characters) when you see it so often in the game. I suppose they could give a rats buttocks how to spell her name though.

At least it's better than all those game thread clogging up the forum.

I'm surprised more people don't use the more common spelling of Liliana.

She is Le Liana with le fake French accent. That's how I remember how to spell it, though doesn't "le" normally indicate the male gender?

Generally, yes. "la" is for females, and "les" is plural.

Your tax dollars at work! French stopped being mandatory to learn when I hit grade 4, I'm surprised I can remember any of it. My exposure afterward has been solely to bilingual packaging.

I was going to learn Spanish throughout high-school, but I stopped after year 2. I learned that the system is set up in such a way as to force students to take it through high-school and college if they actually want to become somewhat fluent.

At my high school, it was mandatory to study either French or German for a minimum of four years, with Spanish available to the senior years if your French/German grade was high enough.  I got pressured into German.

Though with le conformed as being masculine, does this mean that le Liana has some other secrets that she isn't sharing with the PC?  Some surgery she may have had, perhaps?
