Greetings Fellow Gamers & Bioware,
First of all, let me tell you I really like this game, and I have been two weeks playing it and enjoying alot.
Unfortunately, yesterday I was playing at *A templar´s nightmare* and got the *disc may be dirty o damaged error* amd became *a videogamer's nightmare*..
Took the disc out, checked it, nothing, perfectly clean, not even a tiny scratch.
Inserted it again, tried to play and now the game does not even load, at all.
I inserted then call of duty, runs perfectly, inserted halo 3, runs perfectly, inserted dragon age, black screen and the drives makes alot of noise.
I would like to point out I installed the update from Dragon Age two days ago, so maybe that's where my nightmare started.
I already deleted the cache, but I still get the same problem.
It's the first time I got a problem like this, when the disc is perfectly clean and without any scratch.
Now, I got this amazing game that costed me here in Mexico 90 Bucks, wich it was a sacrifice for me to buy because games are really exspencive here, and we dont gain to much neither hehe (Videogames are expencive in Mexico) and I cannot play it at all. I even got my holidays in 4 days, and had plans to spend them playing dragon age and now suddenly, my hopes to finish this amazing game are gone, sniff.
Please, any help will be very apreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but I don't think that is related to the game. Your XBox 360 disc drive is about to fail. I had the same problem about a year ago. Thank goodness for extended warranties >.<

But, why only happens with Dragon Age Origins?
The rest of my games run perfectly!

I am surprised I got a really fast reply from Bioware, EA costumer service
.They told me this:
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.
I'm sorry to hear you are
experiencing difficulties, and apologize for any inconvenience.
Sometimes
certain configurations can conflict with your game. Set any controller, sound,
and video settings to their default setting. This can be done deleting the
game's settings information from the hard drive. Try playing the game
again.
This could also be an issue involving corrupt game save files. You
will need to remove game related save data by following the below given
steps.
1. Power on the Xbox without a game disc inside to display the
Xbox dashboard.
2. Select Memory and press A
3. Select Hard Disc and press
A
4. Scroll through the save games until you find your specific game.
5.
Press the A button while selecting a files to delete them.
6. Confirm
deletion when prompted.
7. Repeat until you no longer see any of the game
files left on the Xbox hard disc.
8. Restart system with game inside. Try
running your game again.
This issue can also be due to any NON-OFFICIAL
Peripherals connected to your console. Please unplug all non-official
peripherals connected to your console. The easiest way to ensure this is to
unplug any peripherals except for the official licensed controllers that came
with the system. This includes any memory cards or network adaptors. When the
console is starting up it will calibrate the controllers. Do not move the thumb
sticks or press any of the buttons until the EA logo appears.
Example of
non-licensed equipment manufacturers: Nyko AirFlow, MadCatz MicroCon, Mad Catz
Dual Force 2.
If the issue persists, try clearing console cache, follow
these steps:
1. Locate the System section of the Xbox 360 Dashboard.
2. Select Memory, select Hard Drive, and then press Y to view the device
options screen.
3. On the Controller, press the X, Left Bumper, and Right
Bumper buttons in this order: X, X, LB, RB, X, X
4. You will be prompted to
confirm system maintenance, select Yes by pressing A.
if you still facing
problem to do all the steps, please let me know back.
If you still have
any doubts, feel free to reply back.
Thank you,

I hope this info works for somneone else, the only thing that kills me is the *delete all your saved games* which basically means I will have to start from scratch!
I will try it out, if works, I will play all over again, I just hope it works and does not happen again
.
I will let you know if tjhis worked for me
.
Thanks in advance.

Mine started with only one game too. It eventually got worse. Hope BioWare/EA's response works for you though and that it's not the drive.

Thanks mate. I will try this, if does not works, I may stop playing dragon age and to pray it's not the drive because the warranty I believe is only one year for the drives, and 3 for the red ring of death hehe.
I will delete my saved games, and see if works.
Will keep you people updated

I already deleted all my saved games, reseted console setting, etc, and nothing!!!
However, now stills the game does not load but if does not make alot of noise the drive as used to be trying to load it, weird, has to do for sure with the software of the game.
This is terrible ....
I really am considering to take it to blockbuster and to change it for any other game and to lose like 60 bucks in the process, and to never EVER again to buy something from Bioware, I feel absolutely sad about not being able to finish the game after I put so much love and time into this game.

Either your disc is screwed (doesnt have to have visible scratches to be borked ) or your 360 drive is on the way out (very likely) :/
You should always install DA:O and play from the HD so your disc only gets read on the game booting to reduce disc wear ( plus it improves load times/texture popping )
Only thing to try is to have the disc in your 360 and keep double pressing your physical ejection button on the console, forcing the game to keep re-attempting to read the disc ( if your 360 drive is failing you will know since the dashboard comes up with the game as a normal DVD and not a game ) - it will eventually read after 1 - 100000 trys ( seriosuly ) , might want to try install the game as soon as it reads but your still gonna always need the disc to boot the game regardless.
I've had 2 360s fail on me this exact way and it has always started doing it with only one specific game leading me to believe its a broken disc but overtime nothing starts to read.
MS wont fix the 360 if the drive is busted if your out of the standard warranty, but the 3 year one is still fine - you just need to make your console RRoD die ( very easy ) then send it back to them for a free fix

Not ture where I'm at. My drive went outside the standard 1 year warranty but was still within the 3 year extended and they replaced it without question and no RRoD. Which reminds me, I should check to see when my current 3 year is up so I can extend it again ($52 for 3 years is a steal by most standards for electronics these days).

Haven't gone through 2 yet, but this is the truth. It will start out with one game and will over time gradually get worse spreading to more and more games that will not read in the 360 drive. With installing the game to the HD, the drive oly has to verify you have the disc (makes the 360 quieter too).

You will have to get a new game disc. I had this happen to my original mass effect game and I had to buy a new disc. And now i do not have that problem any more.

The same thing is happening to me and I am at the end of the game. none of my save files for any of my characters will work and it is really frustrating. Is EA or Bioware absolutely unwilling to replace the software if it doesn't work?

I tried, they dont do refunds, bastards.
Now, the weird thing is, I deleted the profile I used for the game, well, actually mine and my brothers aswell, and now the damn thing runs ... Thanks god I have diferent accounts for live and for my single player games.
Definetely is a problem with the software, that corrupted something.
I wont spend any hour more into this game, I already lost alot of hours, and to play with the fear the damn thing will do me the same is too much, besides to re play all the misions, and all the customization I put into my characters.
I am going to buy tomorrow another game to get over the frustration of this game, and will change Dragon Age for any other game at blockbuster, I just dont want that piece of evil software in my house lol ...
Bioware, nothing personal, your game rocks, but it's the first time I have had a problem like this with my Xbox, and I wont get anything else from Bioware.
Thanks to everyone with the help to try to fix the problem.
Greetings from the third world
