At least you're honest about it.

Um... there are a lot of RPGs and MMORPGs that let you play as the opposite sex for the past decade. It's not just Bioware and a bunch of new games. I will always stick to playing as a male, even after creating a new character to replay a particular game. That's just me. I want to get immersive, as if I'm in the game's world, and playing as a female would deteriorate my immersion. But hey, it's optional. I'm not complaining.

I will yes, but usually not until after I play the game a few times as a female. At that point I'll probably try one or two playthroughs as a dude.

If there is a choice in the game then I play only as s female. Prefer games where I can create my own female character. And always keep one character in each game.
Male characters are also cool! If the is no gender choice, but game or the character himself is interesting, then I will play this game :)
But being a female myself, I prefer to play female characters :)

I normally do as many playthroughs as possible, and often choose the opposite gender so there is nothing gender specific that I missed. At a minimum, I will do four separate playthroughs. Male, female, all good, all evil.

'Why not? it's only roleplay, it's fun see how other characters react to your character as male/female and chosem class.
I don't see the point on such discrimination.

I like to play with all character/gender options.
Do not missunderstand me, I'm male and straigth, that is my opition for life real life, but in game that is not MY LIFE, is my characters life, my characters options do not reflect necessary my options, so generaly is fun have a female character who seduce all companions and see how each companion react to that behavior.
That is wgy I play because it's fun, I do not play if I'm not enjoy while playing.

At first i always play the same gender as me, that is male. After that if i want to play as another class, i make the character female in order to differentiate between them easily.

Then I decide which of the two will be the imported "canon" character, based on what i think makes most sense for me storywise, and things like decent romances being available (DA2 for example had terrible ones for male hawke).

As a male I only play as male. Why? Cuz I don't care about seeing things from a different perspective. Tried playing Mass Effect as a chick and could only get half-way through it before quitting out. I really just don't care to play as female.

There is not that much different perspective to be found really, male/female is just cosmetics.

I used to play both genders in most games, but I have stopped doing that in Bioware games. The choice of gender in their games seems to be just a cosmetic choice now, so.

I haven't ever been able to finish a run through as a female in games for some reason.

Maybe because you play a male first, and then as a female nothing changes, and you go through the same story, and are bored?

That's probably the biggest reason.  I usually end up doing 3 playthroughs of RPGs (especially BioWare ones).

First one I am myself, I make decisions based on how I personally would make decisions.  Second one I go full blown 100% heroic and the last one is full blown 100% antagonistic/not heroic.  I think my biggest issue is I will try to start a female runthrough RIGHT after either my second or third run through and by that time the game has me bored since I have played it so many times.

I usually go with whichever voice actor I like most.

Yes, I do. Less in Dragon Age - my canon Warden is female, same as me - but for lots of reasons (sometimes voice acting; sometimes it's because I prefer one character design over another; sometimes just out of curiosity about how it affects game mechanics), I'll often play as another sex. I've done a playthrough of DA2 with a custom f!Hawke and a default Garrett, but I always end up playing female in DA:O - not sure why.

Meanwhile, I've never been able to complete a playthrough of ME with a femShep - it's not that I have any problems with the VA (Hale does a great job), I've just never been able to get into it.

Female Charaters in Dragon Age: Origins are the best, you can screw up Anora, marry with KING Alistair (if you are Noble Female) or you can be the KING Misstress, I don't care, both best endings and screw up Anora is a big bonus.

Also you can romance almost all companions being a female, another Big bonus make Alistair have a hot night with Morrigan, simply illarious.

I try out both, but once I've picked the gender I prefer for each game then I'll stick with said gender for most of my play-throughs. For example, my canon Warden is female but my canon Hawke is male.

I almost always play female exclusive, if I have the choice. An exception was DA: O, where I completed a playthrough as a male Tabris. I've never played M!Hawke, simply because that voice actor = Vaughn for me. Nope.
My first Origin's playthrough was with a city elf rogue, and that guy left a lasting impact on me. Maybe I'll break the pattern with DA3 though.

No, I prefer to play as my gender. I don't play any game in which I can't play as a woman. I honestly find that no matter how cool the game might be, I just don't enjoy playing it if my character's gender doesn't match my own. And thus I don't waste my money on games that only let me play as a male.

I prefer to play characters of my real life gender. If only I have an option, which is rare because most of games (even good ones) have fixed male PC, and female PCs mostly go "Lara Croft" style.
I hope that some day "neutral gender" stories will become a standard, as they were during text-based RPGs.

There were "male" games I enjoyed (like Silent Hill 2, MGS1-2), but I played them as a spectator, there never was any sort of connection between me and those PCs. None of those was an RPG.

I'm male, and I always play female characters. The only time I played a male character in a BioWare game was to get the Morrigan romance achievement. Every other BioWare game - female characters only.

I have absolutely no idea why I prefer playing female characters so much.

Hmm, I do play as  a male a lot ( my  sister only plays male characters)  but  both she and I,  do not buy/play the games that do not allow us to play as a female character.
It's a social stance on the issue, so to speak. We have too many games with a fixed male hero, and in a lot of cases I can't even tell the difference between them.

First playthrough male, second female - as a man I can better relate to the male character so I pretend thats me in the game, with the female playthrough I can break free from ''playing myself'' and create and play a totally new and unique character which allows me to see the game from a completely different perspective.

I've never really found it difficult to get into the perspective of a girl. At the end of the day, you're going to be this person who's killing a bunch of people for various different reasons, gender be damned.
