I'm not saying that about everyone who did that thought about it, but you really can make a generalization about the type of person who would go for Tali especially compared to the other LI's. It's really not all that flattering.

Shots fired!

One thing I think ME2 needed was a male equivalent to Jack. A human outlaw or hardass. Someone outside Cerberus like Jack, but also questionable in some ways. Basically Zaeed, but maybe younger. Like a really hardcore version of Han Solo. That romance would have easily rivaled Garrus or Jacob. Then take out Thane, since they couldn't do much with him anyways.

Those who like her character maybe? I'd be careful with any sort of generalization if I were you.

In any case it's hard to point to the dextro LI addition as pandering when Mass Effect had the entire ridiculous race known as the asari from the get go. If anything Mass Effect has always been honest about how seriously it treats its lore purposes.

Indeed. The Asari are really stacked up like elves in the series. It's so delightful to actually see them knocked down after Thessia, and Shepard getting to call them out in Citadel.

Canderous Ordo hopping dimensions? I mean as long as we're destroying lore.

Works for me. The great thing about Jack's romance (for males) is she is human and yet anti-Cerberus. It's filling a niche that Ash and Miranda can't.

With female players, they don't have anything as cool.

Ashley is completely anti-Cerberus.

That said, I really wanted to see a Miranda/Ashley comparison in ME3, with Ashley being Ashley.... and nothing else needs saying.

Yeah, but she's a girl scout.

I mean anti-Cerberus, yet not so ****ing lame. That's what Jack is. And that's what the handsome-devil version of Zaeed could've been.

I do think FShep could have used a Renegade-leaning LI and another human male for those of us who get headaches contemplating interspecies sex.

I can't do Tali's romance (gives me cold sweats) but I wouldn't generalize about the kind of people who go for any LI. I know too many Talimancers to write them all off.

I do too, but I'm saying that if a person romances Tali, I do have an idea of what a certain kind of fan will look like.

And as I've said before in the FemShep romance thread, the series needed an LI that's a lot like Han Solo, Captain Jack (Harkness or Sparrow, take your pick), etc. A guy who's a scoundrel and a rogue, but who can push all the right buttons and isn't a total boy scout lame-o. That's Kaidan's issue. James somewhat fits too. At the same time, they have a sort of manic energy and collected coolness from something from the 60's.

I'm thinking Han Solo from the Empire Strikes Back with The Ninth and Tenth Doctors and Steve McQueen circa 1967.

Yeah, James kind of fits too. I mean, him and Zaeed are both Walters' characters. I think he could've written it if he had consolidated some of these ideas into one character.

This board is a lot more fun when you don't take people seriously.

Little bit of Thane and Garrus, too. I think that's probably why they didn't end up doing something like the Han Solo character type: those personality traits were already scattered around to the other characters, mostly in ME2.

I fully admit I'm a basement dweller, but that's kind of fitting as a Jackmancer.

Well, kind of. I eat well. And I'm Asian. Little facial hair or neckbeard.

Jack should have been vegan. "Rodriguez is hit. Because she DIDN'T EAT HER VEGETABLES."

True enough. Perhaps they spread too much with the male characters. With the females, I see clearer archetypes.

I can attest to the fact that vegan energy bars are definitely a thing.  Headcanon away!

Do you really want me generalizing the kind of person who would go for Miranda, and their reasoning for it?

A few Leviathan orbs can drop a Reaper destroyer. A cain missle can knock out a reaper canon. A big worm thingy can eat a reaper. Shepard can some how dodge and/or take reaper beams to the face and then lock onto it with a Laser designator. And then missiles can kill one too.

So... Yeah, I think we can kill some reapers conventionally.. In the Mass Effect 3 versions of Reapers that is.

Although according to Mass Effect 2 lore. Even a thanix cannon can't defeat the kinetic barriers of a Reaper....

Sovereign was only destroyed because it's barrier and shields were down remember????

But ME3 Reapers are kinda weak punks.... I guess.

I can nominally see it with Garrus, but I don't really see any of these traits with Thane.

Garrus is a too awkward and goody-goody, James isn't fleshed out enough and has too much of an inexperienced vibe, Zaeed is too much like the grizzled old veteran and far too psychopathic.

If I had to peg one character that fit the bll, it'd actually be Renegade Shep himself/herself. Unfortunately, he/she can't romance themselves. Heh

Walters hints that that is how he sees Shep too, if given the choice. Like in ME2, Joker says "Zaeed is like you. Except he takes checks." In ME3, Vega compares Jack and Femshep, if you let him call Shep "Lola". Loco is self-explanatory.

Whatever the quality of the movie, Paragon Lost really helped me with Vega's character. I liked him before but now I think he's a great character. I think my next Renegade runthrough I'll have a different appreciation for the dialogues with him about what he did and who he is.

Part of the reason why I think a canon universe (say, if a show was made) should have both maleshep and femshep. Having a Renegade Shep is too interesting an opportunity to miss, and you know if there was only one Shepard it'd be Paragon.

Am I the only one who's terribly amused by the way this conversation is going? I'm swapping my main MShep out to Jack and I guarantee you I'm as far from the stereotypical Jackmancer as you get.
