Woah, I just started watching the latest episode. I was expecting it to deal with the repercussions of Athelstan's death... and after like 30 seconds we'd already reached Paris. ![]()

I'm honestly not too concerned about the historical inaccuracies. Perhaps if I knew a bit more about the history, I might have more of an appreciation for it and then I maybe I'd be ticked off. But honestly, as long as it's at least mildly entertaining each episode, then I'll keep coming back.
As for next week's episode, boy, that looks like it's going to be good. While some people may complain about Floki being too brooding, he's still one of my favorites. I remember when I first saw one of the teasers for Season 2 where it has Ragnar's brother knocking him to the ground and I couldn't help but be worried about him. Here's hoping he pulls through next episode, despite what he's done. I would never like him in real life, but he's certainly entertaining as a fictional character.
The number of scary/crazy princesses/queens on this show is too damn high. ![]()
Well I don't think anyone's going to die before their time in history. Most of the people in the cast are pretty big people, Rollo aside.
assuming he isn't Robert I I guess...
Well I got around to watching the episode finally.
Awesome battle sequence, but it fell flatter in the latter half of the episode. More crazy Floki, ANOTHER love interest for Lagertha, and a redundant scene with Ragnar talking "to" Athelstan, and the Franks are still consistently meh.
I have to agree the introduction of the Franks has been very limited in scope. And that princess has a shoddy accent if I've ever heard one. I feel Hirst has got a bit too ambitious for the time he has left in the season.

I can't have been the only one rolling my eyes with her "battle" speech. I feel that the next episode will be the fall of Paris and Ecbert dealing with Princess Crazy, the finale will be showdown between Ragnar and Floki, Þorunn is hopefully gone (she was never particularly interesting and I'm not sorry to see her go)
I'm not convinced Lagertha will survive the season still, and I imagine Rollo will be written off/sidelined for the next season with his marrying the Frankish princess and becoming Robert I de Normandie ( or t may work out as a surrogate settlement since the one in Wessex failed)
so raise your hand if you think that was a legit conversion?
Ecbert is such a slimy and yet good villian.
Floki comes to realize he really did blow it re Athleston considering what Ragnar did at the end of the show.
I gotta get mo one of those giant wheels with spikes on them for my fortress.
I still think Ragnar is angling some sort of plan with the baptism, I can think of a few stories where cities were taken by men on their death bed who professed a desire to be buried in consecrated ground.
He's definitely not dying, unless the writers plan on him dying about 50 years earlier than his legend says.
Damn, Ragnar, you cray-cray.
I'm going to miss Count Odo's bridge of doom.
What a way to go out. He got one last laugh in. ![]()

You reckon he knows about that though? I mean it's an odd thing that would come up between him and Athelstan: "So what if we cannot take Paris by force"
"Get yourself baptised and get yourself buried on consecrated ground"
"What?"
He may think he is though, I mean, his ****** is red and he grunts in pain when he takes a leak, he looks kinda pale, and he's always holding his stomach, might be he's never seen this before and just thinks he's dying.

Ecbert only has Ecbert's interests in mind, no question about it. People are nothing more than pawns to him, even his son, who I'm starting to feel sorry for. I thought this episode at last developed the Franks a bit more and still covered a lot of ground plot wise. Watching Ragnar convert was a bit saddening. Once Christianity started spreading, that was the beginning of the end for the Vikings.

which is weird, the legendary Ragnar Lothbrok died long before Christianity was established in Scandinavia, his death is what allegedly prompted the Great Heathen Army to descend upon England

That sounds like a good season right there.
What a way to go out. He got one last laugh in.
He is for rekt
I'm kind of disappointed by the turn the show took this season. There is too much fantasy. It always had that with the girls fighting and the gods "cameos" for example, but it didn't bother me much untill this season, I really disliked seeing a Paris that looks like the city for 400 years into the future.
On a side note, this is coming up:
What a way to go out. He got one last laugh in.
His laugh was great. Made me laugh along with him.

That was hands down the best scene in the episode
When I go to the block I'll be sure to ask someone to hold my hair
So my guess for the end of the siege, Ragnar is "dead" and carried into Paris to be buried, when inside the Vikings spring their trap and take the city
"The Dead will conquer Paris" -paraphrased from the Seer

I do like your idea, I do, reckon it would be cool.
However it looks like Paris was suffering with disease.
