I prefer Alistair...but alas I can only bromance him.
Zevren is a decent character but I'm afraid my character would get herpes or something after sleeping with him.
Pretty much my thoughts on the matter.
Although I'd prefer Sten over both of them... I know I'm strange...:innocent:

1. I adored Zevran. I loved all the humor in this game. I though the only conversations funnier than Zevran's was Shales. And I am sorry boys and gals... justify it any way you want, but I found Leliana boring even when romancing her.
2. Playing Rpg games for over 15 years now, I can't seem to make a decent warrior type no matter what I do. I just never got into the the big sword smashing/or big axe smashing type of play. So I naturally play a Rogue and found Zevran's skills at combat twice as useful compared to my own. As a matter of fact, I was fortunate enough to ignore placing any of the pick pocket/traps and lockpicketing skills and focused solely on combat for him and OMG he was a blurr by the time we got to the ArchDemon. I admit freely though, that I let the game autobuild all of my meatshields (Ohgren, Sten and Allister).
3. As for the romancing options, I have to agree that Bioware took a very brave step in setting this scenerio up for both Leliana and Zevran. Kudos to them. I do have the maturity to play this game (hahahaha) but i didn't find anything in it more apalling then half the movies or garbage they call television these days. Good Grief, I just about died when I realized my 66 year old mother was watching True Blood the other day. And that was in my livingroom without a parental filter!

1. Did you give Oghren a shot? Guys difficult to get as Ozz is on the harder side... and frankly no one really gives him a chance cause he seems like a cliche' dwarf at first... a very ugly one no less. Personally I found Oghren to be even funnier then shale! By a long shot no less. Well, ok, back to my point. The Zevran/Oghren dialog is classIC. They actually break the fourth wall a number of times by refering to the cliche dwarf vs elf rivalries that are so common place in fantasy worlds. A few deadpool moments with these guys
2. Now that dex is actually contributing to dagger damage, I really want to make a non-strength DPS rogue, maybe Zavern is the perfect candadate for this! Oh yeah, NEVER let the game autobuild Sten or Oghren... it ruins them! RUINS THEM! WHAAAAAA!
3. Please please please tell me how your grandmother reacted to that!!!

LOL! I'm sure that was pretty classic.
I have been previewing movies for my very conservative (and honestly sort of naieve/sheltered) mother since I was about 12 years old. So I get where you're coming from.

1. Once I got Oghren as a companion I used him more often than Allister. Even with the autobuild he was a far better meatshield. I do confess that I ended up letting Sten sit at the campfire throughout most of the game, so other than the companion conversations with him, I didn't really get to see his interplay with the other characters much. I agree about the conversations with Oghren and Zevran! I loved Oghren's interaction with Morrigan as well.
2. Truly I was impressed with the improvements to Dex fighters. It made the assassin class very much worth it. And I just couldn't get the hang of using the poisons and salves throught the game, but then while playing NWN I wasn't very dependant on potions and magical buffs either. And I'm running thru my third origin with a Mage player at this time and decided I would not autobuild anyone. I see what you mean about ruining them. Allister is a much more powerful PC if you can concentrate his abilites in the Shields then pick and chose which specialization. I've hardly used his templar skills at all. Bad Rowen... Bad.
3. HAHAHA its my Mother sadly... and ironically she says to me "I think I should read the books."

Usually it's the women fawning over the male characters, but what about the men here? I'm not a particular fan of his gay relationship, but I think he's just a fun character to be around in general. Everybody else in this game is just too serious, but Zevran actually manages to stay scarastic and funny throughout the whole. Also, I like the fact that he's a bit of a horndog. IMO, videogame characters are just too pure (if you get what I mean). I just think it's awesome to finally find a character who like sex just as much as I do.
(I think this is the right forum for this discussion; I didn't post any spoilers).
No way! I'm a straight man though have experimented in my past so i have nothing against bisexuals or homosexuals in general.
However I find Zevran absolutely repellent. When he came onto me in the game i was like "yuck get away" :-) He is so sleazy and slimey.
The only male party member who i view as attractive (other than myself of course) is Alistair :-)

Alistair reminds me a lot of my bestfriend, so I have a soft spot in my heart for the big lug. He's funny as well.
I'm just glad I have Leliana.
I think that the four romanceables pretty much fit a niche for almost everyone. Good job Bioware!

Alistair is more closer to naive type of guy but for the Maker's sake that guy is idiot.
Unlike Alistair, Zev also has a great way to win your heart (as a friend or more). I always find Alistair more repulsive as you go further in relationship.

Alistair is good-looking in that boyish way, witty, self-deprecating, and is best voice-acted (w/Morrigan). I cant help but like him the most with Morrigan. For some reason the actor's voice really suits Alistair, and the same with Morrigan.
Anyways i hope they keep both Alistair and Morrigan for DAO2 and use the same voice actors. I dont really care about the rest too much, but Zevran has to be my least favouite. I actually kill him now after his failed assasination. I dont even want him around my camp.

My fifth playthrough is as a male warrior and Alistair has sort of slipped into role of best friend with Zev as a close second - and I think it's my my role play style that brought about this change than anything else. I didn't romance him as a male, didn't fit my story, but I still love Zev and he'll still be at the top of the tower with me.
The only companion I find distasteful is Morrigan. Interacting with her as a male character made my skin crawl - he turned her down flat.

I adored Zev from my first playthrough 'til my current (5th). I'm female and my first four playthroughs were female. The first three romanced Alistair and flirted with Zev and each of them ended the game with Zev as their best friend, out of all the companions. My fourth female was an elf I rolled just for Zev and I enjoyed his romance story, it's appealing in a completely different way from Alistair's. Aside from what everyone else likes (his humor and his talent as a rogue - he is usually a staple party member for me and I never waste points on lockpicking or trapping with him - seriously the traps don't do a lot of damage, and by now I know where they ALL are and you can finish the game without picking locks) what I like most about Zev is how the friendship develops, he can become your truest friend. His banter with all the characters is extremely funny and I always stop to listen to him.

Actually if Morrigan was a male, he would be my absolute romance option. She has witts, looks and brave enough to say what's in her mind. Not like spineless Alistair who throw tantrums in camp after everything you do. Especially her friendship lines are really touching something in my heart. I never felt pity for Duncan obsessed Alistair or hard-luck story Zevran. Morrigan has her way to make you feel special. (Big thanks goes to voice actress).

I'm a huge fan of Claudia Black and I think she did an awesome job with Morrigan. Three of my female characters got along really well with her. Her friendship *is* quite touching. In a role play sense my mage (female) felt betrayed by her (to say more would include spoilers) and I just didn't like the pick up line she uses on male PCs when she wants you in her tent. Zev's offer of an Antivan massage is a lot more persuasive than a simpering, 'my tent is cold...'. Also, I had decided early on that she terrified my human male noble, not such stretch of the imagination there... Leliana was much more his style.

Morrigan was a great character, too, but, as the poster above mentioned, the "It's so cold in my tent" line garners a --20 Approval for my male characters every time. It is just, I dunno, sleazy in a way that way outsleazes Zevran on every front. I don't mind being stared at luridly by Z. because at least I know where he's coming from. Morrigan's proposition is always jarring to me and sounds like it comes out of left field.
I wish there was more romance building and less of the "OK, I like you, so let's head for the tent." I guess this makes me really "quaint."
I'd have been happier if there had been romance options in the game for players who like their romances a little more "challenging" and "open ended." I felt all of the romanceable characters in DA:O seemed too "easy", making each one seem a little less attractive to me. I would have preferred to have at least one non-roll-in-the-hay romance option that didn't lead to sex (at least not yet) but that offered a long-term promising future, but oh well. Silly me, but that's what I consider romantic.
If Bioware had offered a likable and attractive romance option(s) that *didn't* lead to sex, but only suggested there might be more to follow once the archdemon had been dealt with, I would have chosen that over any of the ones currently offered in game.
